We went to pick up some bottles of liquor for a wedding. The workers there brought very efficient bottles of alcohol
Our orders were delivered right into the vehicle
Best place to get low cost liquor. You have to go around the food city building to the back if you want to find it. There’s normally a long que but it’s worth it. 👌👌
Nice place to buy liquor. They have almost every popular brand. Prices are fair too. place smells bad though 🤮. I will leave images of the prices as of October 2023. You are welcome.😉

Ask member of staff to take you to the booze shop located downstairs. Cheap place, full of tuk tuk drivers getting their breakfast bottle of whiskey in before a days driving haha
Price per person
Rs 1–500

They have the best variety of wine ! Approx 10-15 instead of 5 for most of the liquor store in Kandy & around.
You need to enter the car park and turn right. It will be at your right at the end of the building.
The clerk tried to steal 120 extra! This is your best bet around for beer as it actually has a price list and scanner. It also has cold beer. You go around the back of the Cargill where deliveries are made. There is a line with bars but they indicated we should go to the area with an open counter. Here there is an English price list. 625ml of Lion Lager is 180 and 625ml of the stout 8.8%abv is 320. I actually liked the stout. They scan, you should also get a receipt.
Assuming we were too dumb to do the math they scanned a more expensive beer trying to charge us more than showed it as refunded on the receipt. We noticed before handing over any money and they corrected it so we paid the correct amount. They were hoping to pocket 120 overpayment! Even with all this, this is the easiest booze store in Kandy. All the others are just a counter, no list, probably no scanner and receipt. Just do the math yourself!
It's hidden in the backyard. Take the way on the left side of the food city market. Not a nice place. But if you're in a need for liquor you can get it there.
Typical barred and grotty looking liquor shop, like you'll find in a lot of places in Sri Lanka. Serves its purpose though and being attached to a supermarket you won't get ripped off like you can do at the independent liquor stores.
Literally the only store you can buy alcoholic beverages.
How to find it:
While facing Cargill food store, you turn to the left to get to the shady looking parking lot. Down the ramp, you turn slightly right again. Near the trash you'll find a small entrance. Doing something legal never felt so clandestine.
Worth a look, if only to see how liquor is viewed in Sri Lanka. There is an airport style queue system leading up to a counter. There's no browsing. You need to know what you want. And you'll have a bunch of impatient locals waiting behind you. Bottle of arrack is about 1000 LKR. Tin of warm Lion about 220 LKR (versus 600 LKR in the local bars).
