“Muslim-Friendly Menu available here”
Built in 1969, the owner Eriko has done such a charming job with her restaurant. Yamabuki in Nago has attracted celebrities into her cozy home-like restaurant with slippers available to guests. A traditional private Japanese experience, Zashiki with tatami seating on the floor.
Tasting the authentic traditional treasures of Okinawa has made me understand what the Ikigai book reference of Okinawan food, health and longevity was all about.
The decor, the food, ambiance was all spectacular. A fond dining experience in Okinawa that’s 100% worth the visit up North.
I don't know why it's taken me so long to write this review. I don't exaggerate when I say that this meal here was the highlight of our Okinawa trip. Mrs Eriko-san was incredible, and her food is an ode to the joy of life. We will go back to Okinawa specifically for her restaurant. Thank you so much!

Must go restaurant. Their Sabu sabu with porks is the best in Okinawa. Owner is a very nice lady, this is my 4th visit to this restaurant. Highly recommended and please make your reservations before there.
After visiting Shuri castle, I was handed a flyer of muslim friendly restaurants in Okinawa and this was listed as one of them, and since my wife and I were traveling to the north of Okinawa anyway, we went here one evening in april 2018 (so this review is three years late) and it was the most delicious food experience we had in Okinawa and one of the best we had in Japan. I especially enjoyed the fried kurugun (an Okinawan fish), in the charming little private room. The lady owner of the restaurant was most friendly and welcoming and interested in our background and asking if she could post something about us in her blog. While planning the meal for us, based on our preferences and some dietary restrictions, she sat down next to us taking out a fish encyclopedia explaining all sorts of fish they served. Altogether, a relaxing dining experience. We promised ourselves to go one more time in the future.
