We had a lovely experience. Beautiful view, good food, great service. We weren’t staying at the hotel; walked in on a Saturday evening and got seated immediately. My husband loved the burger and I enjoyed my jackfruit pastor; I didn’t have one cocktail at any restaurant in Tulum that tasted like it had alcohol in it, this place included, so just go with a beer or sip a shot. Very delicious food at a beautiful beachside location! The food is healthy, fresh, and staff and friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoy dinner with the sound of the ocean! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $1,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Best dinner in the Tankah area. We have done dinner at every restaurant in close proximity and this was by far the best meal with a beautiful view. The angus beef burger was perfection with a fresh sweet potato bun. We also had the squash risotto it was so flavourful. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Absolutely wonderful. The food is delicious for every meal - I recommend the fresh fruit with breakfast or any menu item with mushrooms! Beautiful, peaceful atmosphere with a great view of the ocean. The staff are friendly, hard-working and fun! Miguel and Giovani, in particular! Meal type Breakfast Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Meh. We were in Mexico for 2 weeks prior to this experience and ate in many places, basic and top end. We are a family visiting from the UK. Positives: Margarita was good, and better value than other hotel restaurants on this strip. Service was personable and welcoming. Burgers were OK. Beef was minced too finely so it was like paté in texture. Negatives: Jackfruit dish was basic and tasteless and arrived after the rest of us had finished. We sent it back. Summary: Our expectations were probably too high. I suspect the food satisfies the main bulk of the clientele. Just wasn't for us. I left a review for Umbal (part of Nerea Hotel) a year ago under the hotel's google page. I now see that the restaurant has its own page for reviews. Last year, Alfredo, our server, treated us so nice for dinner. The cons: My wife and I went back to Umbal for breakfast this time. However, the experience was not stellar this time. It was Sunday, September 17th. They only had one server for the restaurant; he was taking care of customers on the 1st floor and 2nd level on his own. Our server was pleasant, but he did not go above and beyond. I asked for a 2nd cup of coffee for my wife, and the coffee never came. We didn't bother asking him again. I asked our server if they had bottle water. He said, "yes." However, he also said to us, "it costs 200 pesos." I don't know why the need to provide the price as we didn't ask for its price. Not saying his intention was ill; simply commenting that there was no need to tell us the price of the water. Clearly, we had the means to pay for our food. The following is what irritated me the most about the restaurant and staff: My wife was overheated due to the humidity and close to 100 degree weather, so she got in their empty pool. I heard the cook behind the counter telling our server, "They're not hotel guests, and they're using the pool." Other hotels in the area such as O'Tulum and Cielo Maya have always let us use their facilities (pool, chairs, pool beds) free of charge as long we consume food and drinks. They happily come to our table to offer these services. They tell us, "feel free to use our pools, chairs, and tanning/laying beds while you sip on a mojito or margarita. Let us know what else we can do for you. We know you're not hotel guests, but you are also our guests because you're here eating and drinking at our restaurant. My wife and I do not need access to a pool; we have a pool all the time available to us during our stay in our property. It is the kind, gracious gesture from other places that extend their amenities to us what makes the difference. Their make our stay and dinning experience memorable. Umbal fell short, so short of meeting a welcoming experience. The pros: The food was great! It has great taste despite the negative experience with their lack of friendliness, professionalism, and welcoming to guest, regardless of whether or not they're staying at the hotel. Food is very organic, plenty of choices that go beyond traditional mexican cuisine. To sum up: Go to O'Tulum, Cielo Maya, DSKY or other nearby place on this private area for treatment like family and like you matter. You can also go to downtown Tulum and experience other restaurants in that area as well such as Bejuco, which I left them a 5 star review too. We stayed here for 3 nights and ate multiple meals. In the US, we can’t always expect a ton from hotel restaurants. This restaurant completely blew us away. Everything - from the scallop aguachiles in a broth so delicious I drank it straight from the bowl - to the incredibly fresh fruit and yogurt in the morning - was clearly made with love and care. All the wait staff treated us like old friends and we felt so welcome. We chose to eat here again and again rather than going into town because it was consistently delicious, thoughtful, and you can’t beat that beautiful view. If you’re looking for well balanced meals, fresh produce and fish, without being smothered in cheese or fried - please check this place out. It’s worth it. Service Dine in Price per person $1–100
Hotel staff was very friendly/ professional. The hotel also looks like a beautiful place to stay and has nice architecture foliage and ambience. All of that said, the food was terrible. We were staying at a hotel nearby and received a 10% voucher, and the reason was clear when we got there. We got the pork loin, crabcakes, and shrimp. The pork loin and shrimp tasted as if rigor mortis had set in about a month ago—not fresh. we could have lived with that as we are not picky eaters if it was seasoned, but unfortunately it was not. All together with the voucher it came up to about $80 USD, compared to the typical meal that is closer to $25 USD in Tulum downtown.

Stayed nearby and went here for dinner. Terrible and super pricey food. All the dishes were not well prepared, lacked flavor and seemed too complicated with ingredients that the chef didnt know how to use. The meat tasted days old, the fish dry, the appetizers over fried, the peach tart had raw peaches with runny custard and a rock hard crust, they call chocolate mousse a creme brulee. Bottle of wine over 1000 pesos. For total of $5500 pesos, better to enjoy Cielo Maya restaurant nearby. Nice ambiance with tables on the beach. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
