We ordered the steak and it was well cooked, their red wine jus complimented the steak very well. Their ribs portion was huge and delicious. The potatoes wedges were fried to perfection whereby the outside is lightly crispy and super soft on the inside (not dry). It’s the little things that made it stands out from the rest. Lastly, you have to order their sticky date pudding. It was moist, dense and not too sweet (in a good way). Just when we thought we over ordered with the mains and couldn’t eat anymore, we finished the dessert easily. I would say this was one of the best SDP that we ever had. We saw Phat Duck Brew Bar & Kitchen driving through so today we decided to have a drink and eat there. I had Wagyu beef nachos and my partner the roast of the day Beef brisket with seasonal vegetables. The food was great and service excellent!! Amazing place. First time in Ashburton and phat duck did not disappoint! Had the cutest spot for kids, my daughter spent most of her time out there! Pork ribs was divine!! Brother had the grilled steak which was cooked to perfection! Mum and other brother had the shank which was lovely! Overall an amazing place to dine Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $60–70 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Brew Bar
Very expensive, Had the ribs - which were ok, possibly a bit to much sweet sauce, but definitely not worth the money. Service was very good though. No complaints there. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 2
Four of us had dinner. Good menue choices. We had two blue cod and chips with salad, one lamb shank and one sirloin steak. All meals were good and service was efficient and friendly. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $40–50 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Arrived for Sunday lunch bought a drink as we had not had orders taken discussed wether to have another drink they took away empty drinks didn't take our order. 45 minutes after sitting down they tried to give us someone else's food, at least we got to order then. The entree' was great but the first meal came out 10 minutes before the second one, the 2nd meal was chicken schnitzel which was half cooked and the grease was running out of it. Paid for drinks and starter refused to pay for overpriced SLOP been going there since 2009 hadn't been for a while, What happened to a great restaurant.? Won't be back. Service: 1

Hour and 20 minutes wait for an overdone steak. To be fair, they were busy... Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4
Stopped for a meal in transit home. Nice menu selections and a delicious plate of food. Could do with more 0 alcohol options for drivers, but good friendly staff and restaurant space away from the bar was relatively quiet and nicely presented. Will stop again.

Don't know what was going on in the kitchen last Sunday night. Waited 45mins which was ok as we were warned about the wait. The much awaited lamb shank had a tough top and chewy inner. Only the veges were good. I can do a better slowcook at home. The prawn entree was also overcooked or fast cooked from frozen, I couldn't really tell. Meal type Dinner

Great place, Friendly staff and amazing service. Food was cooked very well and was delicious. The Phat Duck is a great restaurant for families and catering young children. Definitely recommend this one if you're stopping by as the location is conveniently just off the main road.
