Authentic Irish pub experience with outstanding food in a unique setting with amazing decor and atmosphere. We got the Irish stew and chicken platter. Both were amazing. The chicken was perfectly moist and flavorful not dried out at all. It came with perfectly seasoned and cooked vegetables that really added to the dish as a whole. The hearty and flavorful stew really hit the spot. The service was outstanding, coming by frequently to check in with us but not too much to be intrusive. If there was anything to complain about the meal, it would be the waitress didn't smile or seem cheery though definitely not rude or off-putting. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day. I would have preferred just a tad more smile or energy, but again she did an amazing job and was attentive. My husband didn't think anything of it; so it could also be personal preference. Tasty as food and good selection of drinks. We shared a starter and pizza which was just the right amount of food. One of the few places open during Saturday day in the off season. Price per person $30–40

Firstly their supplier let them down, they’ve run out of Irish beer, everything no stout, red ale or even Irish cider, had to drink Pilsner instead. We got soup of the day and cured salmon for starters, the soup was very nice. The cured salmon was disappointing and highly advise to avoid it. The quality didn’t balance out the portion sizing and price point for house cured salmon. For mains, eye fillet, fish of the day, Irish lamb stew, chicken burger and beef burger. The fish was as you’d expect, nothing fancy but it is a reliable choice. The Irish lamb stew was astounding, nicely balanced and a great mash potato. Burgers were both okay, our group would recommend the chicken instead of the beef though. The burgers had large portions and hot food is always a people pleaser. The fillet steak was nice but definitely needed the garlic butter to make it a nice steak, all of the vegetables were nicely cooked and tasted great. Was there recently with my hubby for a romantic evening under the candle light. Was seated by a lovely person but had to order at the counter as they were no where to be seen when it was time to order. My hubby ordered the Salmon for me and i wanted the mash instead of the chips which was an option on the menu. He ordered the salmon without specifying which sides and no options were given to him upon ordering at the counter. When food arrived i was greeted by the nice salmon atop the most average fries i have ever seen in my life. Dry, no seasoning certainly not something you want to put in your mouth. I cannot stress how bad these fries were. These fries ruined my night as they were just so bad i just had to finish my salmon and go home. I cried in the car ride home. Hubbys t bone steak was lovely though, would consider returning.
Starting with the only positive was the waitress who was the only person out front, she was friendly and welcoming. We chose to have the fish of the day special which must have been to get rid of some old fish out of the freezer. It was not fresh and delivered still dripping with cooking oil. Along with some sad chips that had been sitting around for a while and were cold it was barely edible. The local old boozers made the vibe of the place pretty average. Fantastic Irish bar in the main street of Methven. Very cosy setup inside, would be lovely to experience the warmth on a snowy cold day. We visited in December 2023 and purchased takeaway pizzas which were excellent. The staff even allowed us to prearrange collecting them slightly before the pub opening time, just great service.👍 Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Hawaiian Pizza
Superbly run kitchen, the food was delicious and came out rather quickly (which was great because we were very hungry). The mushroom sauce was incredible, the chips were all golden and the side salad was seasoned to perfection. The star of the dish was out of this world, one of the greatest steaks I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. The staff were all fantastically supportive and polite. The decor was absolutely hilarious and extremely memorable. You can’t have a bad time here!
Always a great meal here, this time we tried the beef burger and the crispy chicken burger. Both burgers were tasty, with just the right amount of sauce, salad ingredients were fresh and plentiful(lettuce and tomato). Great spot, for a meal and a beer, after a soak in the hot pools.
