Was blown away by the service from a young lady who seemed to understand fine dining service despite her apparent young age. Opted for the 3 course meal and was very happy with every course - dry aged raw fish, pork belly and creme brulee. Will definitely be back to sample more of the menu. I booked in advance to give The Bistro ago. Our waitress was a little standoffish which we thought was strange, she did do a good job of describing our wine matches during the degustation though. We got the degustation (obvi) and it was great! Highly recommend if you feel like treating yourself Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Degustation Dessert

Was visiting Taupo with my friend for a few days. We were looking for a boujee place to eat for a celebratory final meal. The Bistro knocked it out of the park. The food was great. They had this surprise salted caramel butter that I wasn’t expecting, that was an especially yum stand out Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Fresh Fish of the Day

Absolutely sublime. My husband and I dined here a few days ago and were blown away by both the food and the service. We are from NYC and have been all around the world and eaten in the best restaurants- I am a bread baker myself and am always in search of places that take pride in their food. This is such a place. Jude, the owner, comes to the table and explains each course with passion (we had the tasting menu and I highly recommend that). Each course was perfectly executed and oh so delicious. Wine pairing was spot on. And where most restaurants slack when it comes to the dessert course on a tasting menu, Jude delivered again with an unexpected delight! A deconstructed cheesecake - visually stunning and once again, perfectly executed. His son Julio was very knowledgeable about the wines and extremely friendly. Walking in to The Bistro you might not expect such excellence and fine dining (due to its casual atmosphere) but that’s exactly what you’ll get. Let me end by saying Jude’s sourdough bread is WOW! My husband and I loved every bite of our meal and our interaction with Jude. Definitely one of our best meals/experiences we’ve had not only in New Zealand but any where (includes France, Greece, Spain, Italy, NYC)! Food was good. Waittress didn’t seem to happy to have us there, but it was the day before christmas so kinda understandable to be honest. Manager was very welcoming and nice though! The beef was also very well cooked Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $40–50 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes Steak
Our evening at The Bistro unexpectedly turned out to be the highlight dining experience of our trip to New Zealand. Our waiter, Jude, happened to be the owner of the restaurant. As we enjoyed our Tasting menu with wine pairing, Jude took ample time explain the creativity and thoughtfulness behind each dish. Beyond the explanations, the food itself was exquisite. And the wine pairings were spot on perfect. All in all, a fabulous meal within a locally owned and family run restaurant. Thanks for the great night Bistro team! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We celebrated our wedding anniversary with dinner out at the Bistro and wanted something very special to enjoy. We were not disappointed! We had the 6 course set menu and enjoyed two hours of gastronomic delight, which they finished with a touching extra acknowledgement of our occasion at the end. Absolutely top class food in a nice setting. Was recommended to us and we could have driven straight past it without knowing it was there. Don't judge the book by the cover ! One of the best meals out, and I eat out a lot, that I've had in a very long time. Delicious flavours, well cooked, well presented and nice service. Thank you. The food is amazing! We came back two nights in a row! The dishes had such great dynamic. They are on the small side so definitely get a three course meal if you're hungry. Even though we got a table late on a Saturday night it didn't take long for the food to be served. Sunday was equally quick! I'm in New Zealand on vacation and this is without a doubt the best restaurant I've been to on my trip so far (2 weeks). The staff were nice and helpful. Seemed a little busy but it was a Saturday night so it makes sense. We came back on a Sunday evening. Staff was definitely more calm this time around. The atmosphere were homey but the acoustics were not the greatest. Very loud experience on a late Saturday night. Sunday evening wasn't even close to being as loud as the prior night. We also arrived at 6 pm instead of 8 pm. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Really nice place! Everything was perfect - service, food, atmosphere. The Chef made sure to look after us himself, explained about the food served and cared for my wife's coeliac dietary requirements. What a pleasant dinner. We definitely recommend it!! It is a must go in Taupo! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $90–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Creme Brulee
