Had breakfast here several times & can only say yum! Small menu but such good options & the coffee is just what i needed, was looking forward to it every night to get to start my day here 🤤
Also tried the tacos for lunch once & it was so good! Recommend to stop by even if you’re not staying at Salty, also to enjoy the super nice pool.

My stay at The Backyard was simply amazing! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile by the welcoming and professional staff. The hotel's atmosphere is elegant and cozy, providing a relaxing and pleasant ambiance.
The room I stayed in was impeccable, with modern decor and all the necessary amenities to make the stay comfortable. The cleanliness was exemplary, and the attention to detail truly stood out.
The hotel's restaurant was a true culinary surprise! Every meal was a delightful experience. The dishes were prepared with fresh ingredients and showcased a perfect combination of flavors.
In addition to the excellent food, the service in the restaurant was exceptional. The staff was always attentive and ready to meet our needs. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy, making the meals truly enjoyable.

I must say it was an exceptional experience. The fish tacos were nothing short of amazing, fresh and bursting with flavour. I decided to try the coconut margarita and it instantly became a new favourite that paired wonderfully with the laid-back atmosphere of the poolside restaurant. The service was great and the staffs attentiveness added to the overall positive experience. The Backyard Restaurant is now a must-visit in Hiriketiya. Kudos to the entire team for creating such a fantastic place. Looking forward to my next visit!

If you love Mexican food… that’s the place to go. We spend one of our best nights here are the backyard restaurant. From the beginning till the end everything was perfect. First we took a cocktail at the lounge area before we moved to the restaurant area. Staff were super friendly ( thanks Ishan for the recommendation of mango Magarita :). We love sharing, so we shared a few dishes in between us. You have to try the fish taco and the chicken one … the best I ever had and I been to Mexico. We also had the nachos and loaded fries with it. Just great. The menu offers also vegetarian options. The one must try is the coco-loco Magarita ( see picture ).

If you like your service with an incorrect order, accusing waiters and half your food not arriving then this is the place for you. As a group of 6 adults and one sleeping infant, we ordered food and drinks. We asked for the ordered to be repeated (which the waiter did correctly).
Some food then came then double the food came of some items and some missing tacos never arrived.We questioned the order which we found had been written down incorrectly and double the food we ordered was being prepared in the kitchen. We asked to have the correct order and we were met with quite astounding rudeness and vitriol. We asked for the food we hadn’t ordered to be sent back and the food we actually did order to be prepped….the staff then closed the kitchen, pulled down the shutters and left. We as a group of 6 adults were told we were lying about what we had ordered, no apology, half the food arrived and drinks took up to 20 minutes to arrive in a staggered fashion. We then were charged for additional drinks we didn’t order so having to go through the bill with a fine tooth comb. My husband and I were the most unlucky and received half our food, which meant we had to find food elsewhere with our 6 month old at night.
Lovely location and the food we had was nice but I would avoid this place like the plague. There are plenty of other spots that deserve the custom and the customer service was extremely poor and ruined our last night. Rude and inexperienced kids that seem to pray on tourists innocence really let the place down and there are far better places in the area.
Tacos and the loaded fries taste delicious! The quesadillas was disappointing and tasted like Norwegian frozen pizza. The place is clean and beautiful. The staff is super friendly, are good in English and the food came quickly.

Very good. The space is beautiful and welcoming. The staff is very friendly. A great place to relax and have a good time. Everything was very clean, from the bedroom to the guest areas. I also really like the location and I hope i can come back soon on business or pleasure.

Avoid this place! The portions were so small and so expensive we payed €7 / 2400 LKR for a tiny bowl of normal fries we couldn’t believe it, the loaded fries were the same price which our friend got and they were so small and not loaded what so ever we went on a taco Tuesday so the tacos were €5 each they’re not even worth that let alone the normal price we were so disappointed and left still hungry we had to get more food, the place was dead and we can see why, honestly save your money and head to dots bay house for similar food with specials and happy hour and save your money.

Staff: attentive, friendly, nothing negative to say
Food: We ordered the fish, cauliflower, chicken tacos and the mushroom quesadillas
Chicken was very dry where as the cauliflower and fish were excellent, we also enjoyed the mushrooms
Drinks: Iced tea was excellent, top 5 in my life no doubt
Conclusion: Will come back for another taco tuesday! More plants in the backyard would be a nice touch!
