Service was fantastic, food was only decent. Savoury pies had too much flour, while the sweet treats were a bit too sweet, perhaps just not to my liking. There were a lot of customers going in and out of the shop though. Oh and my mom loves their hot chocolate so that’s worth trying :)
Sorry to say, but the bacon & egg pie I had on Saturday was not up to your usual standard. But the steak & onion pie my husband had, the filling was great, but the pastry not so nice. Will try again, on our next trip south.
Went to buy my lunch and a treat for my husband who is diabetic for Valentine's Day and was told they don't do any diabetic cake, so put back in the shelf the bread roll I was going to buy for my lunch, and left the shop unimpressed at the lack of not offering suggestions for the treat I so wanted to buy him with being in hospital and it was suggested that I try the Cafe Time place down the road. I got exactly what was after by going to New World supermarket. Meal type Other Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

Nice stop before we drove to Christchurch. Really pleasantly surprised about all the choice of hearty, creamy, fruity pies... so hard to make a choice! Also some nice coffee and good that you can sit outside.
Always a good place to go for yummy pies and sweet treats. Everyone loves the savories. Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Pies
Bought a Venison pie for $5.50. Wasn't the best. Pretty much the gravy tasted like a mince pie. Maybe red wine added would have added taste to the pie. Late I bought was good tho, so only 3 stars
