The environment is good late Saturday nights. People are friendly and want to have fun. It's a good time.
Though the karaoke options are great in Kazakh, Russian, and English, it doesn't display the lyrics well enough in advance for quick songs; but you can just use your phone. The tablets for the song lists are classy, but there aren't enough for everyone on Saturday nights, so you often have to wait a while. It's more good than bad though.
The food is generally disappointing because you expect much better from a hotel of such caliber. Their nicest restaurant is delicious, but the standard options at the karaoke bar and by the pool are very disappointing. Never try their hamburger, for example: they don't even compete with Burger King - let alone truly delicious burger joints. The chicken shoshlik also has no flavor. The beef shoshlik is only good because of the sauce.
The service is slightly better than you would find around the city in general, but there continues to be a lot of room for improvement by international standards.
Be sure to look at the prices, since they have intentional traps for people who don't. For example, a 0.33 L bottle of Hoegarden is 7500 Tenge, though at the grocery store it's only a few hundred. The price relative to other beers makes no sense at all, so it must be a price trap. I learned this the hard way, lol. The Sigma Vollbier is a good option.
