We’ve eaten at Casa Sofia a dozen times in Playa and always have a great experience! This Tulum location is just as great ☺️ The handmade pastas are delicious, and make sure to ask for some table bread. The service is very friendly and attentive. We even met the owner at the end of the evening and he was so friendly and is from Italy! I wish for some better wine selections, the Chardonnay we ordered tasted nothing like Chardonnay. But otherwise they have a very large menu and reasonable prices! We loved this place! The food was amazing, we are vegan and they had a good selection for us. The kitchen looked like it was commercial grade, which isn’t alway what you expect to see in Mexico! If you’re looking for a meal outside of the traditional Mexican fare, I highly recommend Casa Sophia! I personally loved this place so much that I spent half of my vacation evenings here. Food was amazing every single time. I also liked the fact the manager/owner which seemed like a lady had a very good eye to detail. If there was no waiters around she rushed to seat the guests. I can say one of the best pastas I’ve had in my life. So glad I managed to try their spices and herbs. They even had a small one man live show which again I really enjoyed. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is they lack on their desserts menu. I saw someone on the reviews mention they ordered something and they said they didn’t have it. Fair enough the first time but lesson should be learnt so you don’t get repeat complaints about the same thing. Overall very good experience! Would highly recommend! Very fairly priced too. Amazing Neapolitan style pizzas. Dough was perfect; thin, crisp and airy. Went with a classic Hawaii, and only drawback I can find is that it’s a shame they use canned pineapple instead of fresh given that we’re in Mexico of all places. But would still come back anytime. I loved their soups. The staff are very friendly, smiling and attentive. The only downside is that they force you to give a tip before you even suggest it, but otherwise it's great. Best Italian restaurant in Tulum!!! One of the best in the world! Truly enjoyed our meal. Had tons of options and huge portions. Service staff very friendly, but also a bit slow for being in an empty restaurant with 8 waiters (we came early), but--this is Mexico 🤷‍♂️. We came into the Restaurant and there was a host stand so we waited until no one never came so we walked into the restaurant and a waiter went “hola” and went about there day we picked a table and seated ourselves and then another waiter came to help and took our order overall food was okay nothing over the top but also not bad. I sadly completely forgot to leave a review! We were in Tulum in November 2021 and went twice to Casa Sofia. Everything was perfect!! The food: super tasty, huge portions and very reasonable prices and the Tiramisu ..omg..So delicious and look at the visuals 🥰 The staff: as friendly as possible. The second day we came there, we were asked for the occasion and it was our anniversary so they gave us a chocolate cake on the house after the main dish - so nice!
