Left me thoroughly impressed, and I cannot recommend it enough. The value for money is exceptional, offering a delightful array of cuisines that cater to diverse tastes. Remarkable reception experience. No unnecessary hassle or tedious checks; a smooth entry. This streamlined approach set a positive tone for the entire visit, emphasizing efficiency without compromising on hospitality. The staff at Pataka Kai deserve special commendation for their incredible friendliness and attentiveness. Empty plates didn't linger for a moment; they were promptly cleared, reflecting a commitment to maintaining a clean and inviting dining environment. The buffet lunch itself was a culinary delight, boasting a range of dishes that pleased every palate. The value for money was evident in the diverse selection and quality of the offerings. I wholeheartedly recommend Pataka Kai to anyone seeking a delightful and seamless culinary journey. Kia ora, I want to say I have been visiting many restaurants in NZ, This is the best buffet in Aotearoa NZ. I try most things. Food is extremely high quality, tasty, and cooked prefectly. Especially, Hangi and raw fish is wonderful tastes, like home cooked as same as aunty cook at Marae. Service is great and staff are so nice and friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and clean. However, I don't like to sit in a communal table. Prefer more room but Ka pai, that's a personal preference. Overall, Highly recommend. Well done, Chefs. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Best lunch we have had during our trip so far, great buffet selection of hāngi meats, seafood, salads and desserts. The prawns were so fresh! We had an incredible view overlooking the geyser. The staff were all absolutely fantastic too, very kind and professional. Well worth the price. Would highly recommend! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch

Went here for the tour and cultural experience which were both great. The food at the restaurant was very good. However, a large family with lots of children came in and ruined the dinner for us and I feel those around us. They were loud and the children were allowed to run around screaming and climb on tables. It would have been nice to at least be move to another table as I could not even carry on a conversation due to the noise. We left our table early. Paying in full online is the only way to book here, it's non refundable and you get charged additional fees, mine was $8.35 extra. If 4 paying adults and a teen wasn't enough money already. This place is definitely not worth $90 each. Few more bucks more could get you an excellent meal at the eight restaurant in Auckland. Now that's worth its price. Hardly any desserts, some looked store brought and was still frozen. Food is mediocre. Good thing is seeing the geysers while eating and the free kawakawa drink was a hit. Food and service could be improved for the price. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $90–100 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
Really enjoyed the buffet with options to suit everyone. Sat on the balcony and the view was just epic. Food was amazing - kumera, sweetcorn &watercress soup - had to have two servings and i will be trying to replicate that recipe at home. Staff communicated and were professional and friendly. A lovely representation of NZ 💛 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $90–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Wow! This cafe is absolutely gorgeous- our barista and server Destiny was full of smiles and brewed an amazing mochacinno. The mochacinno had the perfect foam and sweetness of the cocoa, coffee was well rounded. We ordered the Smoked Salmon Bagel and the Chicken Panini - definitely recommend getting it toasted, the melted cheese was the perfect combination was the roasted chicken 👌 Loved the cultural sculptures around the Cafe. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be back again 🥰 Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Fantastic Kai, seriously I can’t fault it. The Bar Snacks are incredible value for money. The Sunday brunch was delicious, even for vegetarians, and the views from the balcony are perfect. It’s got real vibes of Kyoto about it, and reminds me of the Ammo bar in Hong Kong. Came for breakfast stayed for lunch and tempted to come back for dinner tonight.
What more can l say apart from "Par Excellent". What a wonderful way to spend a celebration of any kind . We went there for Sunday Brunch . The view from the dining area is nothing less then spectacular over looking Pohutu Geyser. The food is amazing . Well worth the money we spent . Buffet style served at the table. We were a party of eight. All good eaters and still had to ask for containers to take the left overs home in .Such a variety. Every taste catered for . Cant wait to go again .Its even worth the journey from Upper Hutt just to go there . Thank you so much Chrissie and Jasmine Adam's for recommending Pataka Kai
