Trust the other reviews saying the portions are enormous. We were hungry, took full portions and almost exploded towards the end. Other than that it's just hearty Latvian food on steroids, lots of everything, be that meat or cheese, toppings, sides or salad. Generally everything was really good and tasty. One thing I was not too fond of was that you have the sides and salad on the plate, with the sauce there as well. Meat is placed on top of that so you need to dig a little and as time goes on everything mixes together. Having the sauce in a little bowl would work much better.

Pansija is really good. More like a 4.5 star place. The prices are amazing (€5 for a big pork dish). I had Solyanka soup, potato pancakes and boiled tongue salad. All were incredibly tasty and local Latvian food too. The service is quick and tucked away from the main tourist areas. Definitely worth the drive into the forest.
