Great pancakes and a huge portion size. Lots of variety! The menu is overwhelming. The Nutella pancakes come with just a few containers to spread it yourself, but the bacon, cheese, and egg was so good! The decor is really great too, very classical. Leyden, what happened? NO, this place does NOT deserve 4,4! Yes, the pancakes are huge. But they're also expensive, greasy (they actually taste like nothing except the cheap oil used to grease the pan), flecked with black spots that are burnt fat from previous pancakes, full of bits of eggshell - which I'll admit is at least proof that there's actual eggs in there. A marmalade/jam pancake is served with a puddle of melted butter in the middle and three individual plastic portions of jam straight from the box. Great pancakes at low prices. A unique experience with giant pancakes 🥞. You should definitely give it a try. The service was also very good. They don't have vegan options and only dairy milk, which is quite limiting. I don't know if it's common in the Netherlands but they don't split the bill, so one of our friends had to pay 45€ for everyone, which is so strange for me. Otherwise, top notch! Dutch-style pancakes. Like crepes and biscuits, but much larger and clunkier. The unique visuals that cannot be found elsewhere are impressive, but the taste is ordinary. Still, the quantity is quite large. If you want to try Leiden food, I recommend it, but it's not tasty enough to go there on purpose. Absolutely delicious! The pancakes are gigantic, of all sorts of varieties, both sweet and sour, quality ingredients of strong flavour. Prices of the pancakes vary between 8 and 16 euro based on the toppings but overall prices are more than fair. Other options in the menu include soups, salads and a few mains but if you go there you should not doubt try the pancakes. Top location right in the heart of Leiden, across from the boat rides.
