The food surpassed our expectations, ordered "big breakfast" and it was delicious. Chicken tender wrap was okay. Coffee was stimulating. This cafe has a spacious place and great view from upstairs ( especially morning). Cafe close to the University is a great spot for get together. A very nice place for coffee and breakfast. Easy distance from where I was staying. I enjoy being upstairs and looking out their window. Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Eggs Benedict
We visited this cafe on a very busy morning. Ordered the avocado on toast with 2 eggs for $24 each. Except they had run out of eggs so we said that’s fine, they still charged us $24 each but said they would give more bacon. What they gave us was underwhelming - half an avocado on toast and 2 slices of bacon. Nothing else, no sauces, tomatoes or anything. It tasted fine but definitely not worth the price. Feeling disappointed after an expensive breakfast. Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $60–70 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Great experience, nice and private. Service great, food hot and very tasty, will definitely be back. Highly recommend. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Soup on the Board
We popped in for breakfast and coffee when staying at a nearby motel and really enjoyed our avocado toast and poached egg dish. The accompanying flat whites were great and we thought the meal was value for money and service great. We'd certainly return... First impressions of Oaken are good but with room for improvement. Most of the tables are upstairs, so if you have trouble with these, you are probably best to go in a quiet time. There is one table downstairs and outside seating when its fine. I was served on arrival and was the only one in line at 9 am. I was quite surprised at how long it took for my order to arrive. It took 18 minutes for the tea and 25 for the food. The food was fine, but I felt like a little chutney or hollandaise would have gone well with it. I asked for a side of hollandaise, the staff member was happy to help but then carried on clearing tables before going to get it. That sounds a bit petty, but it's those little things that make you feel looked after at a hospitality venue. The atmosphere sells this place. I was left with the feeling that what they were doing was more important than serving the customer, but at the same time, they were friendly and polite. You are upstairs watching the morning traffic and leafy gardens through floor to ceiling windows. It's a nice space. I'll come back if I'm in the area. Friendly staff, yummy mochaccino and loose leaf tea. Avocado with egg and bacon on toast was delish, eggs poached to perfection. House made muesli had quite a small portion, but it filled me up so no complaints. Generous with the yoghurt and milk on the side. Overall very lovely. Decent feed for $24. Seemed slightly understaffed for the busy brunch period, but the food was brought out promptly. Some ciabatta for the eggs would have been good with the Oaken Stack, although I know it's not listed in the description.
