Really the best curry I've ever had. Seafood curry, medium spice. This family is so sweet and kind, everything is made fresh and it's a quarter of the price of the beach bars and restaurants! Can highly recommend!! 😍

Grilled Fish
A very nice restaurant runs by a lovely and welcoming family.
We ate the curry calamari, grilled fish and grilled prawns, and the fresh juices. The food is just amazing, everything is fresh and cooked to the minute.
We went last night, and it was so good that we came back today. Try it for sure, you won’t be disappointed :)
We really enjoyed eating here. Tried the Chefs Special Prawns and had to get back there to eat them again and again. The curry and Kothu or fried squid was great too. Also food options for kids available. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, you can feel that someone really cares and tries to make an effort to make you feel comfortable. Everything we’ve tried there was great and the prices were absolutely reasonable. In that area many places are overcharging, that was also a reason we gladly came back here during the 4 days if our stay. The whole family is very friendly, our son was playing with their daughter on their yard. We were sad to leave, we would have loved to eat there more often. Hands down the best food we ever had in Sri Lanka during our 3 weeks we were there. 🤘

Wonderful little gem of a place! Humble & welcoming family run restaurant. They’re full of kindness & warmth. Home cooked, fresh quality & everything made to order with generous portions. Shown my catch & had my choice prior to ordering which is enjoyable & proper. Ate here several times as the seafood was fresh & delicious. Menu had many options to choose from. The value for your rupees was unbeatable too. Definitely a must to go to Nilas while in Nilaveli! Enjoyed dinning here so much. Highly recommend. Thank you for the hospitality & wonderful dinners!

It was one of our best meals in Sri Lanka for a more than fair price. We had the best kottu so far and a nice grilled fish with rice for nearly 5€.
It is a must during your visit in Nilaveli

Nila's Rice and Curry is a family owned restaurant. Food is definitely better here comparing to other fancy restaurants in Nilaveli. Price is definitely reasonable. Portions were amazing. Most are good for 2. The best is their grilled full fish which is really reasonably priced, good size and portion. Most of their good comes with rice. Ate here everyday during our entire stay in Nilaveli (except the 2 days that they were closed).
Just consider waiting time, since it is just a small family restaurant they only make food once ordered.
Definitely if you're in Nilaveli you should stop by in this humble place. 🥰

Maybe I caught the whole family on a bad day, but the whole experience left me wondering what all the hype was about.
We arrived and had to make ourselves known, so the two women at the desk would look up. Before us were two tables still with past guests finished food and drink on. Wouldn’t say the service was welcoming at all, a little cold if anything. Ordered the fried seafood and chicken kottu. Both were very average. Hardly any seafood on the platter - a few prawns, some tiny crabs and the head of a fish. Kottu was pretty sad also. And it took over an hour to arrive.
Bit of a shame, as had read all the reviews hyping the place up. Perhaps I need to try again.
