The absolute best stop in the area! The food is fantastic, we tried nearly every meal during our week long stay. Full of natural flavours and featuring local foods! Staff were delightful and accommodating. Wifi available for travelers. Great music and amazing atmosphere. Only spot with an ocean view along the strip. Great for some drinks with friends, lunch with family, dinner with a view and relaxing music, or a phenomenal coffee breakfast stop on the road. The coffee was exceptional and a wide variety of options are available. Other recommendation in the area will always be the mussle inn if you're headed further up the coast.

I've had lunch and dinner here in the past month. Food and coffee are excellent and the staff are putting in a great effort. Sometimes it takes a while when it's really busy, but it's worth it. Really appreciate a restaurant of this quality in the amazing place that is Pōhara!

Hey Nikau - you might want to change your category on Google, you're listed as a bar so when we searched on restaurants, we didn't see you. Luckily we noticed as we were driving by.

We went to Nikau Cafe & Bar for dinner during our trip to Golden Bay. We ordered the special of the day (tomahawk steak) and the white bait fritter. It took awhile for the food to arrive, it turns out to be the first day that they got their liquor license so they were very busy. The food was excellent - the steak was tender and cooked to medium rare (which was what I asked for), and the fritter was very delicious. Friendly staff and great service. The price was reasonable. Overall a very nice experience and will go again when we visit Golden Bay next time.

Great stop for lunch. We got the burger and fries with a coffee and hot chocolate. So tasty and very well priced. Located next to the sea front and a park to relax

Purchased coffee this morning and what a disappointment. Binned at the next stop as it was undrinkable. There is a difference between types of coffee. New Zealand makes the worst coffee, hiring untrained coffee makers and labelling them as baristas. Not good!
Never had this problem in Australia.
Next time ill return it and request a refund.
Absolute rip off.

Friendly service, great date scone, cinnamon scone just like Mum used to make. Seafood chowder with garlic toast was delicious. “Tea for four” came with extra hot water and plenty more if we needed it. Recommended.

Great dark, strong and hot coffee. Beautiful date scone. Quesadillas and fish and chips fantastic. Freshly battered gurnard and homemade tartare sauce. Super friendly kiwi service.
