Stopped by for birthday lunch to try my first burrito in NZ (finally). Staff were great and generous with the portions. It was tough to get the shell folded, just how it should be.
While it wasn't the best burrito I've had, it was quite good and I'd definitely have it again.

I dislike leaving less than 5 star reviews, but this time I felt like it was necessary: A terrible first impression - my partner ordered online and removed guac from my burrito as I have a bad allergy, and then she also specified in the order notes "no avo" yet they still put guac on my burrito. In addition, the burrito wasn't fully wrapped and was completely devoid of sauce.

Ordered online and picked up 15 mins later . Easy to order, decent size burrito was so filling and tasty and the complimentary nacho chips was a nice touch ! Will be back

I notice people rarely review good experiences because so many people expect it, but people are quick to complain online if a hair is out of line. So here are some kinds words to the staff that served my partner and I tonight.
I came in near close with my partner for a takeaway dinner and the lovely staff were friendly, and efficient in serving us while others were tidying and restocking. Its clean with a nice layout and atmosphere if you decide to dine in. The staff were knowledgeable on what my options were given my gluten-free dietary restrictions, and the portions are large with good value for money. My partner’s burrito was so full she struggled to wrap it up! Great service and really fresh and tasty food.

This Mexicali is one of the best ones in the Canterbury region.
The staff are soo lovely and the restaurant is always clean and tidy. The service is always fast and faultless, plus they always give a very generous servicing size which is a bonus. Could not recommend this place enough.

It wasn't like spit out worthy. But the meat is definitely low quality or just cooked extremely poorly but it's not good. There is no flavor. Honestly it just seems like a big diss in the face to Mexican food. Staff were amazing, place was clean, everyone was very helpful, friendly, and welcoming. But the recipie needs to change. Even with low quality meat, I can season it to taste good. Everything was perfect but the food. First time there. Won't be back.

Until I woke up at 1:30am with a sore stomach and then food poisoning for the next 6 hours, I don’t care about being sick but that’s a poor uni students $18 wasted 🙁

Was looking forward to takeaways . Burrito. Wrap was RAW and doughy. First time in my life I have given a takeaway to my dogs. If I could do a negative rating I would
unfortunately one of the worst Mexican places we have tried.
food lacked flavour, looked sad, was poorly put together, and the portions are not what you'd expect.
the side of chips was a small handful with a dash of seasoning thrown on top of them
tacos were mostly cabbage, and lacked meat/flavour. and just looked like a depressed wet dog.
the quesadilla, were uneven with questionable looking meat, no flavour whatsoever.
Burritos were flavourless, poorly rolled and just overall disappointing.
mexican food is about flavour and love, and unfortunately this place lacked everything.
