We had lunch here; good service and friendly staff. The food was ok, a little on the bland side so I asked for the spicy sauce which added some much needed flavour. They seemed to have a few vegan options, we didn’t try any so can’t comment on those. Overall a decent place but nothing remarkable. We stumbled across this place being that it was open early for breakfast. They accommodated our party of 13 in their outside dining section. The wait staff was nice and very patient. All the meals were prepared fresh, being that the plates came out a few at a time, not all at once. The food was delicious and most of our party ended up ordering additional food, mostly extra quesadillas. There were also a couple of local ladies that walked by selling goods such as seeds, spices, shirts, dresses and headbands. They were very economically priced. Overall, we were very happy with our experience at Los Portales.

Great enfrijoladas at a great price. One thing that's an absolute must to try is the Chocolate Maya drink. It's fresh cacoa mixed with a tiny bit of sugar. Devine.

We normally stay away from places right on public squares, but we were tired and thought we’d give it a shot. Pleasantly surprised. Good service, food was plentiful and reasonably priced. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $100–200
Los Portales is conveniently located across from the Plaza Principal in Valladolid. Its a busy corner, but makes for enjoyable watching of local life, especially near sundown as it cools off and the city comes to life. We ate in early evening mid week. We were promptly greeted by staff, and offered menus in both English and Spanish. We ordered both Enfrioladas de Pollo and Cochinita Pibil. Both entrees were well prepared and fresh-- did need to request some habenero salsa for the Coconino, and it was promptly provided. The bill for entrees and two bottles of mineral water was $460MX. We believe the poor reviews by some are due to ordering vegan or vegetarian items that are likely not really part of the culinary culture of this area, but more of an attempt to cater to foreign tourists, not always successfully. Stay with traditional food and you will be happy. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
Food is solid....location phenomenal.... Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $100–200 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
Surprisingly extremely good! Being a “foreigner” restaurant I had low expectations but wanted longaniza. Got the quesadilla and it was excellent, one of the best foods we had in Mexico! Normally I only eat at local/food cart places but this was very good. $8 usd for a quesadilla and water.

I have food allergies and my Spanish is atrocious at best. But the staff was friendly, patient, and willing to work with me to keep me safe. They even taught me a bit more Spanish! The food was delicious and I heard they're expanding the menu. Most importantly the pricing is very, very reasonable. For reference, the average cost was about $20 in 2023 for two people, two drinks, and two entrees. Service Dine in Price per person $300–400 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
