Honestly..soo disappointed. Have been here in the past but man, how things have changed. Absolutely,do NOT recommend. I had pre booked 5days ahead for 4 people and in "special requests " I'd noted, it was my dear friends birthday and I'd like a cake ( which they offer ) and they had no clue, and didn't have the cake on hand either. I had arrived early to make sure they had everything in place. As there was no mention of my request once I had confirmed the reservation. I called, but they were unable to answer. They did, however, offer an alternative option, which I opted for. Then, just as we got our drinks delivered, out came the "birthday dessert" . We had not ordered any food, just to be clear. There is no team work in this establishment. Once we ordered another round of drinks, along with entrees and mains...once we ordered, we went outside to vape, and the cashier started clearing our water glasses, like seriously? Then, once our entrees came out followed by mains and still no drinks. I asked our server where our drinks were. Her response was " oh, the bar is now closed for cocktails" we ordered it was 7.45pm. Terrible communication. I Asked for MR steak, picture attached. The thing was still 'walking around'. I can not express how much of a disaster this experience was. The other 3 at the table were not impressed with their own meals, either. Half of the food was not eaten and and nothing was offered to rectify or improve. We were still charged the full amount. For the amount paid, I'd recommend going somewhere else Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Delicious " Johnny Stash " & "Honky tonk Chicken" that my partner and I both enjoyed. Everything was great apart from the table we we're situated next to ( Very noisy). Would definitely come back though Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

Not a good experience. Mucked up our order. I ended up eating alone as my partner's meal didn't arrive. Then they got my bill wrong. Table beside had the same experience. They were there for a special occasion and their meals were wrong too! It was quiet but no-one cleared tables. Table of 6 beside took in their own plates to create room.Terrible service. Noone had a clue!!!! So disappointing when eating out is a luxury these days with the cost of living crisis!!!! 😭 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
Sirloin (steak, chips and coleslaw) very disappointing compared with how I remember Lone Star steak. I asked for rare, as I usually do, but this one was basically raw - tender enough but tasteless (no seasoning) and it had hardly touched the grill. Not really acceptable for a $42 steak. Fortunately the service was very good and others in the group enjoyed their meals. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $40–50 Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Old fashioned diner. Had dinner here on my last night in Dunedin. Didn’t regret it. Order calamari, lamb and pork. Full on American portions. Calamari 4/5 - beautifully seasoned and breaded. Lamb 4/5 - nicely done. Mash was excellent. Just was perfect. Pork 3.5/5 - meat was a little dry. Other than that good dish. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Came here to dine on my birthday and boy, was I in for a treat! Lovely service overall, very friendly and was definitely spoilt. Ordered the ribs as per usual, cooked very well, had generous amount of sauce on top and was delicious! (Note that however I have found that when cooked in bulk (Lonestar was the venue for our end of year class dinner), I've experienced very dry ribs-inconsistency in-preparation?) great salad, not soggy at all, and average potato wedges, not super crisp. Also got offered salt and pepper seasoning in the fanciest way through a very long shaker by the flamboyant waiter and was definitely pleased! For dessert, creme brûlée and longhorn cheesecake were picked. Creme brûlée was delicious, the topping excellently crisp and sweet with a loose silky pudding base underneath. The cheesecake was well balanced with the whipped cream and it was very creamy and decadent. Not too sweet but chocolately enough for that sweet tooth fix! On the house items were the kiwi pavola with a cute candle on top, and the waiter also offered us tea! Super fancy set up, and we had little cups of milk on the side too! Was such a lovely surprise. Definitely recommend going on your birthday for a special meal, had a lovely time! This ended up becoming my yearly birthday routine-ribs at lone star!
