One of my favourite places in Sri Lanka. John and Jos are great hosts and create a great atmosphere at a lovely place to come for a coffee, lunch or diner. John promised me the best cappucino in Sri Lanka, and he did not dissapoint and they have become a favourite of mine. Jos cooked the best fish I had during my stay in Sri Lanka this year. Kappalady is also a fantastic place to practise kitesurfing. Enjoy!

You can think about meeting with family at a nice place directly at the lagoon and having a nice quiet day. This is how it feels at the cafe. We have been with a child and it was easy to get a quiet spot with fan and while the little one is playing you can enjoy the view over the lagoon (incl. beautiful sunset in the evening) and enjoy the best (or at least one of the best) coffees in Sri Lanka or several other drinks. Beside that, if you are hungry, you can get a freshly made lunch with ingredients from local farms.
If you kite you can expect a great service. The guys help you to prepare, lunch, land and repack your kite. You have the chance to either lunch it in front of the cafe (a bit tricky), get it launched by the guys or jump over to the other side where the wind is a bit more constant. The lagoon itself is relatively small but most of the time you have enough space to try out your tricks.
If you are a beginner you can also get lessons from the kite school located on the same property.

Lagoonies cafe is the place to be. John and Jos are awesome hosts and the cafe has a great vibe. The view of the lagoon is serene while you enjoy the best coffee and creative meals. As a vegetarian I was delighted to eat the jackfruit pad Thai , salads made by Jos. So yummy and all with local fresh ingredients. I’m looking forward to trying the vegetarian burger. You can also enjoy here sundowners. Call in advance for dinner reservations.

Nice lagoon-side cafe and restaurant. Perfect for sunset drinks at the end of the day, or just to hangout for lunch watching wild life on the lagoon. Kiteboarding school is right next door.

What a find!!
Jos (cooking) and John (ensuring your glass is never empty) let you have a good time in a chill atmosphere by the lagoon. I have been there only once, certainly going back as the area needed a place like this, just plain honest hospitality and good food.
