Currently on a journey around the South Island to find the best pies. Ordered, - sausage roll: filling to pastry ratio was generous as per the photo. Pastry flaky and crispy as expected. Food was warm when purchased - mushroom steak pie: flavour of mushroom gravy was delicious although I felt that the mushroom filling could have been chunkier. Steak serving was great.
What a nice place in Kaikoura. They have so much food to choose. Everything was fresh prepared and amazingly tasty. We had Bacon and egg pie and Big beef Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Usually we love our pies from Kaikoura Bakery. Excited to see a Seafood pie and got it. Was sadly so very disappointed. It tasted of vinegary mush. Its surprising that being in a seafood orientated place that the seafood in the pie was not fresh. I'll stick to the other delicious choices in the warmer. Lovely staff and quick kai, food fell bit short of mark. Expensive savouries don’t live up to price and terrible watery bland Mochachino for $6. Sweets looked quite good; however did not try so can’t speak on them. Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
Terrible experience. Mince and cheese pie was clearly bought frozen and reheated. Cappuccino came from a machine and tasted like watery milk, despite costing as much as a proper coffee from a cafe. Service Take out Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
Worst coffee we every had there, don't get coffee from there on a Sunday, young guy looked like he hated his job, coffee was made from one of these coffee machines that normally help yourself from. Sad as we stop here every time we go down south. Even the toilets there, were dirty and broken. Don't think we will stop there from now on. Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $40–50 Food: 3 Service: 2
New owners when we were last there. Food was disgusting. Purchased a ham roll and a chicken roll. A third of filling was grated carrot a third grated cheese. 1 slice of shaved ham. Thin slice tomato cucumber and a vune of pineapple. Chicken was similar apart from meat. Apple slice was days old soggy and tasteless. And a horrible brown colour. Hope the seagills didn't died. Go to New World for a better deal and fresh. Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30
No chicken pies left when we stopped for lunch around 1pm. Chicken sandwich was tasty though Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
