We ate here a couple weeks ago and are coming to write a positive review! This was hands down our best dining experience in Sri Lanka. The food, view, owner, and their cute cat that we named Crabs made this place such a wonderful experience. We had our meals here 3 times consecutively, dinner lunch and dinner again. Food was amazingly delicious and cooked to a high quality. Chef was trained in a 5 star restaurant in Colombo for a decade. Our kids and us enjoyed watching the chef at work through a clear glass window of the kitchen. Highly recommend this place, such a gem whilst surrounded by paddy fields. Many thanks to this wonderful Rice and Curry. The food here really is a dream. The wait is definitely worth it. The owner cooks fresh and you can watch everything. The price is very fair. Everything was perfect! The food was amazing (we had the crab rice and curry and the prawn rice and curry and it was the best of our holiday here in Sri Lanka). Everything is freshly cooked, which means you have to wait a little but since the location is really nice it doesn’t bother at all. Prices are within the normal range. Incredible food, excellent service, friendly people, and a beautiful setting. We both had the rice and curry, which came as 8 separate dishes. Exeptionnal dinner on a lovely terrace by the rice fields. There is an open kitchen where you can see the chef cook everything fresh. I got the vegetarian curry with rice, which came with 7-8 various dishes that were all tasty and delicately balanced. The chef and staff were super friendly. Highly recommended. A bit disappointed after reading the reviews. The positives: food was good and prepared very quickly, staff were friendly too. View next to the paddy field was pleasant. The negatives: so many flies and mosquitos! We knew there would be given the location so we put spray on but we were constantly attacked and bitten by mosquitoes; we asked a waiter if they had any mosquito candles (like a previous reviewer said) and he said he would be back in 1 minute but never came. We couldn't bear it so we left as soon as we had the last mouthful of food. They also had no physical menu...so we were only told 2 options: curry or devilled fish/meat. My husband asked for curry and rice but they told us it's a minimum of 2 people which I've never heard before. It was also very expensive! 2150Rs for devilled pork, but we had no idea because they gave us no menu. Overall disappointed given the reviews, the food and staff were good but the whole experience was ruined by the mosquitoes so we left as soon as possible. And only 2 options for a meal, no kotthu and what seems like high prices in a very quiet area with no tourists around. It’s only a short distance from town but it’s soo worth it. The kids can be fussy eaters but both their plates of veg fried rice and noodles were cleaned out. The chilli pork was dynamite, but my favourite was the crab curry with fresh crab. Chef is happy to walk down the road to get fresh fish to cook.
