Great spot for food! Delicious oyster, tasty clams and the seafood linguine was a treat as well. Attentive staff, fast service, what more can one want

We were celebrating finishing the Queen Charlotte Track and Frank's was the perfect place to do this. Great wine and delicious seafood. Professional service from all staff. Good wine list. We thoroughly enjoyed our night.

I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a restaurant. Because of the rave reviews and the beautiful photos on Google, we decided to ask if it was possible to buy a gift card remotely (from the Netherlands) at Frank's for our friends who are emigrating to Blenheim. The first contact about this was good, and the staff assured us that everything would be fine. All in all, it took a month to receive a bank account number to transfer the amount due for the gift card. I happily paid the 15 euros I had to pay to the bank to get the money in NZ. After transferring the money I never heard anything from the restaurant again. About a week after I transferred the money, Frank's transferred an amount back to our account. Unfortunately, this was less than I paid, and I had to pay the transfer costs myself. I paid a total of 25 euros and never received anything. Unfortunately, we had to arrive empty-handed at our friends' farewell party, even though I started preparing the gift 6 weeks before their departure. I subsequently sent numerous emails asking for an explanation, but Frank's never responded again. The money lost is unfortunate, but the way we have been treated is unbelievable. The food will probably be delicious, but do you want to eat with someone who treats their (future) guests this way?

Wonderful experience. Made a reservation the day before and they only had 5p or 8p. Went in at 7.30p and had lovely drinks at bar. Table was ready on time; salad, croquettes, linguine were delicious. Loud place and staff was nice.

We went here as they were open on Waitangi Day and we had been keen on the menu that was posted on the internet which, unfortunately, had not been updated. Others have faulted the service but we found it to be exceptional. What we did not find exceptional was the pricing per raw oyster(with a vinaigrette that would have taken less than 30 seconds to concoct) and the few choices that we had as non land animal eaters. We stayed for a spicy cocktail that really did lack any spice, paid a lot for rather small oysters and with the 15 percent surcharge on top, managed a bill of over $140 for very little. Ambience is one thing but I have received more for less at Michelin star restaurants. Perhaps the other dishes were more worth their price. Unfortunately ours wasn't.

I honestly can't express enough how great it is to come here. The wait staff are so enthusiastic about the restaurant, which shows in their service. I don't normally know what to pick at these sorts of places, but our waiter was able to give a great recommendation based on what we usually eat. The menu is simple, and lists out each ingredient, and yet the chefs put a great spin on the food, which blew out minds with the creativity.
We had a little bit of everything. My favourite being the steak, which was cooked to absolute perfection, and the panna cotta, which was perfectly light for such a fulfilling meal. If you're on a budget, I would still recommend this place, The entrees are just as fulfilling and satisfying as any other $20 meal, yet it's a far more unique and exciting experience. Couple that with the lively atmosphere, the smiling staff and the chefs in the back that you can watch create art in food.
My only suggestion would be live music. I think that'd be great to add.

Disappointed with this restaurant though glad to find somewhere open on a bank holiday. Setting was smart, nice decor & lighting.
The tempura oysters were very nice but the rest of the food was not to our taste; burnt bread (though the parsley butter was nice), chicken tikka which was just chargrilled on yoghurt (no flavour), a salad wedge which had a strong mint dressing on the closed side (plain lettuce underneath), beef tartare which was okay but slightly overpowered with coriander and a pork croquette that was a bit watery inside & not so flavoured.
Couldn't comment on wine as nobody returned to take a drinks order.
Looking at other comments I’d guess the menu changes regularly, normally a good sign but i couldn’t recommend the current menu.

Thrice cooked potatoes are everything. Order these at least one per table.
Dover Sole was incredible.
Lovely wine list and wait staff. It's near a boutique hotel so we encountered diners from other countries too.
