Going to this shady place is like bringing yourself into a trap. Once you are in they can hold you inside against your will and God forbid the cashier forgot or purposely did not give you a card on your way in, or you lost the stupid card while partying or had it stolen by one of them. You’re screwed! They will lock the gates on you and those huge ugly faced Security / expert extortionists will forcibly hold you inside the club in the rudest and most humiliating way possible and forcibly try to milk you of an unreasonably huge amount of money while your still drunk just so you can be free to go home. You will have to buy your freedom back. It’s like There’s a second business going on at the gates. They sell beers inside and sell freedom at the exit for those who don’t have a card. You have been warned. These guys are like the mafia. They will leave you a trauma for the rest of your holiday.
And as you can read in the reviews, many others have experienced this scam for years.

The payment station is a mess!!! People have to pay at one counter when leaving, the push and shove is like a cattle dip. Which literary became dangerous at some point. The management (Italian owner) doesn't listen to grievances, and even becomes verbally and physically abusive. The staff seems helplessness to assist. The clientele these days is mostly Kenyans so actually no surprises that the Italian owners treat people that way, as they must think such a degrading system of management is okay. More people need to speak up and not tolerate such humiliation when all you want is a good time and you are paying for it!

if you want to experience the greatest stupidity then visit this club. instead of having fun and spending money, you're constantly worrying about not losing the card you pay for your drinks with. in half an hour I checked where my card was at least five times. the party is great. but that stupidity with the card ruins everything.
What an interior design this place got there! Fermento Disco Bar is great… though I visited the place on a “wrong day 😅”, I could still feel the vibes it can have on weekends when it has quite a population!
Something to note, they give some cards to access various services once inside and it’s something to not forget when living the place 😁maybe the culture will change in future (no card needed to enter or leave)…
Even though the place is among the fancy bar/club in Malindi, their drinks prices are still moderate and accommodating for everyone just like other places/bars.
Now this is a heaven on earth. The meals are mouthwatering, the ambiance amazing. You have the best Bar man ever.. This gentleman by the Name Kazungu makes your holiday memorable. He is the king of Cocktails.
Fermento bar has a spirit of its own.. It starts out a bit chilled and quiet, but before you know it, the place is packed and kicking!
There's people of all sorts. Locals, Italian men, younger groups, older ones too. The music is always on point. They play contemporary hits, local mixxes, international bangers.. All of it. The DJ is 👌🏽. Always have a good time at Fermento.
Payment is a different animal. Never experienced this method of billing before. Each person is given a card going in, behind which each drink you order is ticked off and a running total kept. This is then paid for when leaving the club, as the card is turned in. Don't lose the card before then!! I believe you can only pay cash or mpesa. No swiping cards. They should start this though..
Otherwise, awesome joint!! My go to while in Malindi!
I love the mirrors all over the place, giving nice aesthetic
The music is so nice. I loved partying there
Ooh beers are quite affordable too 😉

Avoid this place at all cost. Not only is it ugly with cheap interior but they will steal that entry card you get to pay for drinks on purpose from you so that you will have to pay 5000ksh for a lost card. If you dont do it they security will get very aggressive and even beat people. The police is involved in that game. One police officer we saw there was even drunk. Shame on this lousy Italian management. Actually avoid this city in general. There is absolutely nothing nice here except the sun.
