Go here for pre-Hispanic vegan meals! A delightful little stall that serves the plant foods that were commonly eaten in (what is now) Mexico that are having a world-wide resurgence.
It is not all vegetarian / vegan, but much of it is and they will tell you if you ask. Despite some reviews here I thought the service was good. Even with my mediocre Spanish they were happy to tell me more about some of theses unique foods and ingredients.
If you like plant based foods and learning some history and culture, you must go here when in town.

The food was good (sopa particularly but the gorditas were quite salty) but mainly it was bad because they overcharged us, almost certainly because we’re foreigners. They also gave us less change trying to overcharge us even more but luckily we could stop that.
If you’re a gringo, I would recommend asking for the price of everything individually and being wary if it’s over 150 pesos per person.

Prices are subjective to whatever the owner feels like charging (locals, tourists, foreigners) so be wary of that. The food tastes good otherwise.

They don’t post the prices of the menu. If you are a foreigner they will charge 2-3x the price. I ordered one dish with no drinks and it was 250 pesos. For reference, I am seeing some reviews of people who ordered 3 dishes and drinks for less. When I order from other stalls in this market, it never comes out to be more than 80 pesos.
I am totally fine paying for higher quality, but their dish was the worst I’ve had in Tepoztlan. Their dish was way too salty and I could barely eat 4 bites. I would never go ahead and do not recommend.
The food here is good but unfortunately i cant give it a higher rating as the guy who runs it is not friendly at all. Not sure why he acts that way but other reviews thought the same
No shortage of incredible food in the market but this place really stands out. The stews they serve up generously with fresh tortilla are as complex and satisfying as anything you could find in Paris. Just a mind-blowing food experience.
