During a pitstop for lunch on our journey to another city, we stumbled upon Dushan's Home Kitchen, and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! Initially hesitant, we decided to give it a try, and we are so grateful we did. The food was nothing short of incredible – a true embodiment of home-cooked goodness. Every bite felt like a comforting embrace of flavors. The staff was not only lovely and welcoming but went above and beyond to provide everything we needed, even sourcing items they didn't have on hand (they fetched it from the store). The freshness of the ingredients and the impeccable service created a dining experience that we can't compliment enough. If you happen to pass by this gem, don't hesitate to step in. Highly recommended for its delicious fare and exceptional service. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person Rs 1–500 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Roti
Dushan’s Home Kitchen was recommended to us while we were waiting for a train from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. Read reviews and decided we had to try! Lovely guy who took our order said there would be a wait for our food…he was right! But food was fabulous…well worth waiting for! Will be returning again before we leave town! I can happily confirm the good reviews. I ate here twice on the same day. They are very friendly hosts, the food is homemade and I probably had the best curry there on my entire travels through Sri Lanka. The coconut roti was also very delicious. Not that I'm back, I miss the SL food and if I had the choice, I would go back to this place to get it! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person Rs 500–1,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Highly recommended place. If you want to enjoy home-cooked Sri Lankan food and not the standard menus most of the places have, you have to visit this place. They have a good variety and a special Veggi menu, which I was very happy about and which is hard to find in Nuwara Eliya. The food is absolutely delicious, the prices are reasonable and the family is lovely. During our stay we came here almost every evening once we found this place. I also liked that they asked us how spicy we want the food. Usually in Sri Lanka restaurants just serve it very spicy without asking, only if you mention it when ordering you might be lucky to get the food less spicy. But these nice people cared if you can enjoy their food. Much appreciated 🙏. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person Rs 500–1,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
Very good local Sri Lanka food made by lovely local people. The rice and curry was delicious. Would definitely recommend if you seeking to enjoy real authentic Sri Lankan food. Amazing local place with just about the best food you can get in Sri Lanka. It is cooked by a very charming family. Each dish is prepared separately and with love, so you may need to wait a little (30 minutes) before you are served. We had chicken biryani and vegetarian curry and rice - both were to die for! It was the best biryani I ever had. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person Rs 1,500–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Really delicious food! Definitely worth the wait (they cook one dish at a time, so it might take a half hour to get your food). They are accommodating too for dietary restrictions. I had the chicken Kottu, though it would be better if they would have taken the meat off the bone. No complaints though, I didn't get sick! Pretty large portions too. Even though it's a little more expensive, I think worth it for delicious, safe food. Meal type Lunch Price per person Rs 1,500–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Veggie Kottu
This place is a gem, best deviled chicken we ever had in Sri Lanka, must try item. Expect to wait for the food but it’d be totally worthy Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

It's my third week traveling around the island, and the worst local cuisine experience so far. They warn everyone when they first come that they'll have to wait for food. But they don't say that the wait will take a whole hour. During this hour I smell rancid coconut oil and witness smog coming out from the kitchen. But it's ok, I can wait, if the food is worth it. After an hour I get my mango lassi, then mixed salad and chicken curry. Lassi and salad were below average. Curry was drastically disappointing as the saltiest one I've tried. The tremendous amount of salt is the only thing I could taste in my dish after all the high hopes. The only thing I'm grateful for in this place is chicken which I ordered along with curry. It was a really big juicy piece of chicken, perfectly seasoned, I appreciate it. That's it. Never again.
