The best fish and chips we’ve had in New Zealand. Good portions of fish, good batter and the blue cod tasted fresh and meaty. Chips were good but…still not as good as a UK chippie. This seems to be a NZ chippie theme, they’re like McCain oven chips. We took a short walk up the road and ate on the stationary boat, overlooking the sea. Perfect. Service Take out Meal type Dinner

We had the blue cod and a full scoop of chips. The batter was thick and so oily, first time fish and chips in NZ have upset my stomach. The chips weren't crisp and the portion was tiny, the half scoop must just be 3 lonely chips. Look at the picture, that cost $45.50!!! Do not buy a burger from this place. I had a cheese burger and chicken burger. Cheese burger was disgusting! Gagged and spat it out straight away. The “meat” pattie was absolutely disgusting. It was either off or dog food. Mind you, I don’t think I’d even feed it to a dog to be honest. Chicken burger was severely lacking in anything good. Chicken burger was literally one chicken pattie, some lettuce that had turned to mulch and a tiny bit of onion with a quarter squirt of tomato sauce. The chips where great. But the peace of blue cod i brought wasn't worth the money i paid for it $14.it wasn't cooked fresh. Was out of a packet. Come to Dulcie you got a great business there. This is a true local kiwi fish and chip shop, the atmosphere is from yesteryear, menu on the wall, high counter and the smell of great fish and chips. Staff were friendly, good sized portion of chips and blue cod was great, but actually everything was great (mussels, spring roll, 1/2 scoop of chips) If you’re after a true kiwi experience and a little bit attitude at the counter definitely head here. Side note; it was full of locals, and for me that’s the best indicator of how good they are. Very disappointed by the fish n chips meal we had the other night. Thought a cool little fish n chip shop so close to the ocean would have excellent quality food. Tiny fillet of Gurnard?? (Not sure it actually was) about the size of a finger in tough chewy batter, no sauce on hot dog the only reason I'm giving 2 stars was the chips were not too bad. Overpriced, slow and unappetizing, lots of people had items missed from their meals while we were waiting for our order. Full of locals and that’s how you know it’s good. Had to wait a little but glad this little Chippie was busy on a Friday night. Lovely staff and great food. Grabbed our fish, chips and burger and headed a minute down the road onto the beach to eat. Good stuff.
