We spent a month in Hikkaduwa and we ate at Drunken Monkey almost every day! They have delicious food, the best staff and great atmosphere. The location is perfect - right on the beach with a surf break right out front. Their beach lounge chairs were a life saver during midday heat and the restaurant itself was great to hide in from monsoon rains, perfect for storm watching! In the previous reviews there are some complaints about having to buy food and drinks when using their chairs. I find those reviews super unfair. Their chairs are comfortable and provide much needed shade. They don’t charge for them and just ask that you help support their business by ordering drinks and food. Its quite and warm place! The food is really good. No special meals but it taste so good! The prices are really fair, in the restaurant also in the hotel. The owner are so welcoming. Highly recommend 👌 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Seafood Plate

Don’t bother going here: Food took 40 minutes when we were the only customer when ordering. Pizzas were undercooked and definitely NOT wood fire oven cooked. Pizza tasted as if it was a frozen pizza put in the oven. Cost was around 2000-2800 per pizza and drinks were not expensive. We had the orange juice which was horrible and tasted like tangerines grinded with the skin on, it made me and my partner feel as if we were drugged. Perfect place, very nice and helpful staff. We were here twice and we will come again. Most of the negative reviews are not really true. We wanted to avoid this place due to bad reviews but we tried anyways and it was a great choice! Food is really good - of course, the burger doesn’t look really fancy, but you are at Sri Lanka, order curry instead. It’s gorgeous. The waiter, Prasad, was able to supply us with shisha - hookah. Definitely try Arrack cocktail, it’s quite good.

One of the best places in Hikkaduwa. Delicious food, clean beach…oh and they have a shower! The staff is careful and friendly. Try fried rice, prawn soup, all of grilled, and what ever)) everything is tasty 😊 Here I can choose just dinner or lunch, but we tried everything) were here almost every day) Meal type Dinner Price per person Rs 2,000–2,500 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We were there today and wanted to spend some time at the beach. Server rudely told us that the sunbeds are free but we must oder drinks and get lunch from the restaurant. As we didn’t wanted to get lunch he told us it’s fine if we only stay for like an hour but still order sth to dring. We ordered banana milkshakes and got reminded exactly after an hour that it’s time to order again or leave. Banana milkshake was bad as we both had severe stomach issues afterwards.
