Disclaimer: my party of 3 dined here at half price via First Table on the 21st of January. It is with great sadness that I have to report that the food at Dejeuner was quite the disappointment. Let's start with the positives. Firstly, our server was absolutely amazing. She was attentive to our needs, asking if we needed any extra dishes or cutlery throughout the meal. She also made sure to check in on us to ask how our dining experience was. When we brought up any issues, she said that she would inform the chef. This was easily the best part of our time there. For starters, our group got the French onion soup, seafood chowder and chicken Caesar salad to share. This was a fantastic way to start our dinner, as everything was flavourful and well presented. Following this were our mains of venison, lamb and fish. The venison and lamb were cooked to a perfect temperature, being very tender and juicy. For dessert, the ice cream components of our panna cotta, chocolate fondant and sundae were the best parts. Unfortunately, this where I have to move on to the rather disheartening aspects of the meal, beginning with the serving sizes. I was under no impression that the dishes here would be large by any means, but the mere slivers of venison on the plate was borderline insulting, not to mention the sad smear of mash. The lamb rack was also on the small side. The market fish would have been great, if not for the burnt skin leaving a bitter aftertaste throughout. None of those would qualify the nearly $40 price tags. Our desserts ranged from being acceptable to painfully mediocre, the worst of which was the panna cotta. It came coated with a mango sauce, which was thankfully able to cover up the strangely bitter pudding. In the end, I cannot recommend Dejeuner in good faith. For every good flavour it offers, there is a disappointment that follows. The price point would not even be an issue if everything were to be held to a high standard. To end on a high note, I want to emphasize the fantastic service again. Whoever was serving on this Sunday, give her a raise. The phone died, so I couldn't take pics. However, first table was void due to partner ending up in feilding square instead of palmerston North Square, so I ordered it for takeaways instead. Pork belly was delicious, however lamb rack was overcooked but had a nice flavour. 👌 Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $60–70 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Not recommended at All ! I had a chowder soup $26 and it was like powder instant soup.. the corn and carrots in the soup were derived veggie! My main was fillet was $39 - I ordered medium rare but it was well done .. after complain to the waiter she said sorry ..after talked to manager, he said oh no one ever complained… it was not worth the price at all !!! Its way over the price ! Super super disappointed! Really not recommend anyone come ! Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Great restaurant. We didn't book as we're just passing by for a quick meal after a long day, so we were downstairs, which is still nice. But if you want a better table, make sure to book. Customer service A+++, food is delicious and generous portions. If we weren't in a rush, we would have ordered dessert, but definitely next time we are in Palmy we will come in for a proper full meal .
This was disappointing. Overall this is not fine dinning and neither is food that quality. We paid 175$ for 2 persons. We had ribs and fillet Mignon plus 2 drinks and a dessert plus coffee. Not worth the value. The taste was just ok. The potato stack felt like hand grated and not sized properly. The veges were slightly hard.. You can have much better food for this value at other places.. try some place..

Had a lovely dinner on 2nd January with family. The restuarant was very quiet but lovely decor, quiet music in the background and delicious food. Between us we had pork belly, fillet mignon and the venison and all were excellent. Lovely desserts also. Highly recommend. Very very disappointing - New Years Eve meal. Warning to others - what is described on menu - is not what is served. Entree - scallops (after long wait - barely cooked) were not served with cauliflower puree and crispy baked cauli. Tiger Prawns - nice Prawns with a plate full of lettuce and no ciabatta bread. Steak - ordered medium - served bleeding. Sent back for more cooking then re-served on cold plate with cold vege. Chicken - advertised as stuffed but not stuffed just seasoned. Duck fat potatoes - we're a side of fatty chips 'Homemade Pumpkin Gnocci' - not homemade - supermarket Gnocci' with bits of pumpkin added. Disappointment was voiced both during meal and also on payment - waitress not really interested. Been here before with no problem - but will not return as unfortunately this place was happy to take our money and let us leave unhappy with what we paid for. Word of mouth - your best or worst advertising 😟 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–60 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
Underwhelming and overpriced. Entrees were fine but nothing special. Venison main had a pile of red onion, slapped on silverbeet and crunchy pumpkin. Meat was tough, wasn't given a steak knife and had to find my own fork. My friends meal was equally underwhelming - undercooked steak, slopped on mash and sad looking veg. $39.99 per main. Our feedback to the wait staff when asked how the meals were was "getting through it" 😬 If you're after a nice meal, this isn't it. Nice decor but sound clash with downstairs ruins the vibe.
