One of the best meals we have ever had in Mexico. We had the eight course degustation menu that offered an imaginative take on traditional recipes and ingredients and impeccable presentations. Chef Carlo Melendez personally served and explained every course and gave us complimentary extra dessert and cappuccinos. The prices very affordable for a curated food experience of this quality. We only regretted that we were staying only one night in Bacalar and couldn't come back to continue tasting other dishes. Definitely Michelin star quality.

Yum and yum. We dined here twice and both times were thoroughly enjoyable. The kitchen turned out unique and interesting plates, along with refreshing cocktails. Loved the ambiance as well. Very romantic!

This restaurant is beautiful! Definitely one of the best meals out I’ve eaten (and I live in London and eat out a lot!). We got the hairless pork and the beef, and the brownie for dessert. Everything was authentically Mexican and cooked to perfection. The meat was excellent quality and the flavours were carefully thought out. The chef was lovely and passionate about his food, he gave us a little starter and dessert bites on the house which was so kind! It was also one of the few places where we could find good Mexican wine. A bit more on the pricey side, but honestly worth every penny.

We we’re staying a block away from this place and stopped in for dessert and a drink, so glad we did! The dessert was fantastic. We had the mousse an the brownie, both fantastic! We came back the next night for dinner. The prime rib sous vide is crazy good! The service is amazing and the atmosphere are top notch. Try it, seriously!
This restaurant is great! We had a wonderful experience there. The food was amazing, and the staff was really nice. Both Catena and the other lady working there were fantastic. It's clear that the chef puts a lot of thought and passion into each dish. The appetizers were especially delicious, including the tasty short ribeye tacos, the flavorful Yucatan croquettes, and the mouthwatering shrimp tacos. The chef even took the time to stop by our table for a casual conversation. We will definitely be coming back to this place.

8 course tasting menu was fabulous! Every dish was delicious and the wait staff were stoked that we tried it. We really got the impression they wanted to show us what they were best at and it showed with presentation, flavor, and uniqueness. This is a true gem that stands out in Bacalar where there’s already a lot of great dining options!

We had fish (catch of the day) and cocktails. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was amazing and the waitress took very good care of us. Her positive mood made the evening pleasant for us. I really enjoyed evening together with my girlfriend at this restaurant.

Great food and excellent drinks in a nice atmosphere with good service. We enjoyed a very nice evening in Costera 28. The chef himself guided us through the menu and explained everything to us. We especially liked the „ceviche-like“ Appetizer (which I didn’t photograph but definitely recommend ordering!) and that most ingredients are local and of very high quality. We can definitely recommend to anyone visiting Bacalar!
Really lovely place, awesome to see the use of organic & local produce & glass bottles not plastic. Fabulous food by a super chef, good selection of vegetarian options, we also had a delicious bottle of Mexican wine & the cocktails were superb. Best food that we have had in Mexico. 👍
