Fabulous family run business off the beaten tourist track.
Excellent hospitality and warm welcome from the hosts.
Wonderful selection of Italian/Maltese food. Book ahead as it is popular with locals in the region.
I enjoyed a four course meal with plenty of maltese wine. A memorable evening.
Situated in the charming heart of rural Gharghur, this bistro is truly exceptional. The establishment boasts not only high-quality cuisine but also features one of the finest wine selections on the island. The service is exemplary, with a team always eager to assist you in achieving the perfect pairing of food and wine. I highly recommend it !!

My absolute favorite Malta restaurant serving deliciously prepared local cuisine. 100+ year old wine bar offering a superb wine list and varieties hand selected by Rene, the very knowledgeable & friendly owner. Living in the beautiful village of Gharghur, I was especially fortunate to enjoy this eclectic and wonderfully restored restaurant/bar frequently and the quality excelled every single time. Especially great steaks and wonderful wine made each meal memorable.
We had a birthday booking of 10 for 20:30 which they seated us in the courtyard. When making the booking we weren't asked if we were gonna eat or not and considering it's called a "wine bar", we also thought it would be fine to just share a few bottles of wine.
Straight off the bat when we weren't sure about what we were going to order food-wise, after ordering wine, our waiter was just being rude to us. The same waiter then came back all irritated asking if we were ready to order, we replied that we would not order food after asking us twice and just stick to wine and we asked if we could get the dessert menu instead. Then he just lost it at us saying we should next time inform them that we don't want food and being all rude about it despite not being told whilst making the booking and left. The owner then came to our table and started being rude and arrogant to us, saying they rejected 6-7 tables to accommodate us as if we were a burden to them and no matter what we replied despite trying to be understanding they just wanted to argue and make us feel extremely uncomfortable.
If you want a successful business and customers to return, don't be this rude and arrogant to your customers. We would have eventually ordered food anyway and a few bottles of wine to share, instead we left after our one order cause of this horrible service. All 10 of us will definitely not go back here.

Highly recommended!
Lovely bar and bistro wine bar serving delicious food and selection of wines. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. A fantastic wine and dine experience.
Our friend chose this wine bar for his birthday intending to celebrate with a couple of bottles of wine. The environment quickly became hostile when the waiter became pushy about ordering food. Things escalated when the owner became confrontational, reprimanding us for not ordering food and complaining about turning down other reservations to accommodate us. The owner insisted that it’s a restaurant however the tag on Google is “wine bar” and that is what our friend used to decide on where to host his celebration. It is also worth noting that when making the reservation, there was no mention of a minimum order requirement or clarification regarding food and drinks preferences. While we could understand the owners disappointment at the misunderstanding, this unexpected and hostile reaction marred what should have been a pleasant celebration. We won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it. Perhaps the owner should look into amending the tag on Google and brushing up on his hosting and social skills.
Food, service, ambiance...fantastic! Update, just has first return visit since covid and was as food as ever, really friendly service a must visit place when in Malta
Restaurant with lots of character and lovely setting. Excellent food seasoned to perfection without any fancy touches. Starters, Mains and Desserts got sounds of approval from all.
Our first visit, but definitely will return.
We were having an overall good experience, but the schnitzel and date fritters tasted of fish (from deep frying oil). The owner did not take the feedback well and was very rude about it. He was childish and arrogant.
