Don’t recommend it. Go to Move in Pick across the road! I ordered 2 scoops in a cone; the first one was scrambled. The staff tried to stabilize it with her hands, avoiding collapse. When I left the counter, the ice cream fell off, and I had to hold it with my hands to save it. I didn’t have time to ask for a cup, so I grabbed one myself from the counter and saved my ice cream. But the worst part wasn’t the quality of the ice cream; it was the staff (with blue hair) yelling at me because I shouldn’t grab the cup without permission. According to her, if I broke the acrylic sneeze guard, I’d have to pay for it. Of course, if I had time and didn’t have ice cream melting in my hands, I would have asked. After reading all the reviews here, I’m sure it is related to the same person.

Lots of flavours to choose from here (it was a hard decision, but I went with the hazelnut praline). Prices are pretty good for ice cream and it's really nice to go sit and look out over the water as you eat it. If I'm back in Paihia I'll come again and try some other flavours!
Yikes , just got shouted at by the rudest girl, I have ever experienced. I asked if there was chocolate sauce on the ice cream Sunday, apparently not , but screaming at a potential customer , even if it was something she didn't like me asking was unforgivably rude . As a senior I felt attacked and a little scared. We left quickly. I'm sure they have a captive audience in this small place with no other options, but there's no need to be a bully 😪

Please!!everyone should try rainbow flavor!!!!! It’s the best /special flavor I have ever tasted in NZ!!!!!!!!!!I will go Paihia again for rainbow flavor ice cream!!!!!!

The worst experience I had in Paihia. I asked to clarify the size of the regular cone as it looked like a kiddie’s cone, and I got vilified in front of everyone. The person who served me held up a regular and waffle cone, and told me in a condescending way by repeating 3 times that one was “regular” and the other was “waffle” like I needed an English lesson. I was asking to clarify the size. The menu at the back of the shop is so tiny and I clearly saw that there’s a kid’s size, too, but I didn’t see it in display so it made sense for me to clarify. I regretted to stay in the line to finalize the purchase even when I was told to leave the queue even if it took me few seconds to clarify. The person who served me later explained that she was too distracted talking to a trainee, but don’t take it out on your customer, and show some humility. I’d rather go to Movenpick across the road in the future for seating and better service.

Hokey Pokey Ice Cream in Waffle Cone
Best ice cream I’ve had in a long time! This place is a little gem opposite Movenpick... do not be tempted to go there! All flavours looked and sounded delicious. If you want to taste a flavour before you pick, just ask. I went for churro and butterscotch with pecan. Absolutely divine. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Friendly staff, nice flavors; I got churro and hokey pokey! There's like 3 ice cream and gelato shops nearby and this one is a good choice.
Didn't run into that "rude" male staff member another person commented on; all women when we stopped by.

If you like coffee, the Madison shake was awesome and if you like chocolate, partner loved the King Kong.
