Very authentic and Cooked fresh with care. I had the most delicious Lumprais. Whilst my partner had a delicious Chicken Kotthu roti. We have family who are Sri Lankan so we are well acquainted with the food and can definitely recommend this place. We will definitely be visiting again to try out more on the menu! As others have noted - the Lump rice is excellent (and moister than a lot of other versions we had during our trip). Goes well on a rainy afternoon washed down with some fresh ginger tea and a cheeky mango lassi. It’s an unassuming place on a raised wooden deck, and just off the Main Street. Secret Tip for the best local cuisine in Ella. Slightly hidden in a side street, this restaurant is more than worth a visit. Lovely and cozy decorated with a great offer of different dishes. If you’re looking to try Sri Lankan dishes, this a great place to go to. The prices are very reasonable. Cafe Samsara was highly recommended by a local at the accommodation I am staying. Atmosphere - very relaxed and charming but with a hint of reggae thrown into the vibe. There are 6 tables and a couch for vibing. Food - I had the 6 type of curries, popadoms and mango smoothie. The curries were excellent. The jackfruit and leeks curry were a stand out. The popadoms with mango chutney were enjoyable. I just kept reaching for it. I paid around LKR 2530 for my meal. Service - there were 2-3 staff and service was quick. The smoothie and popadoms were served first before the curries. Absolutely delicious rice and curry! Also had a mango lassie which was banging ! Highly recommend to anyone looking for some delicious food ! Half the price of a lot of places on the high street as well ! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Tonight I had the best food I have had in Sri Lanka. We both ordered Lump Rice, which was an amazing aromatic parcel of rice, egg, spices and vegetable all wrapped in a banana leaf parcel and also came with an array of sambols. It truly was a special meal. So delicately spiced and tasty. Friendly helpful staff. Great atmosphere in a small upstairs restaurant hidden off the Main Street. A meal to remember! We visited here for dinner and we were not disappointed - the decor and vibes are really nice and homely. It’s like eating in a tree house. Good service, and we took our shoes off so it feels cosy! We ordered lump rice and an egg roti - both delicious interesting flavours. Would come back 10/10! Something different from other Ella restaurants.
