Never have I been so welcome in a restaurant than now when I am at Verde.
The hospitality by the Uba is sublime and the Verde spaghetti blows my mind away with it's palatable taste and it's simplicity.
The bacon, onion and cheese is done just right with the crust just so crispy that it goes down so easily.
When in the area of Kawaguchiko / Mt Fuji, please find time to visit this amazing place!!!

Clam Chowder
A last minute google search found us this place. We hoped to get there in time and managed to sneak in just before the wonderful owner turned the sign to closing.
The restaurant itself is situated in a beautiful log cabin style home along a quiet street. The vibe was homey and simple, but also well mastered and time honored.
The owner, who has owned the shop with her husband for about 40 years, did speak decent English and clearly loved to chat with her customers. She brought us an English menu and described items that we might enjoy. We ordered ginger ales for everyone and a cheese pasta, as well as two of their garlic pepper specials.
The food came very quickly and was hot and perfectly cooked. The spicy pastas were heavy on the garlic and included tomatoes and asparagus. The creamy cheese pasta was loaded with cheese and the pasta was cooked perfectly. All meals were full of flavour.
At the end of our meal, we brought our dishes up to the owner to thank her for the amazing food. She told us about how long she had owned the place with her husband but both were getting old and not sure if they would be passing it on.
She also mentioned lunch can be a busy time, but dinner was perfect as we were the only ones about 45 minutes from closing.
If you are in the area, have just hiked Mount Fuji, or are in need of a hearty bowl of amazing pasta, please give this wonderful restaurant, and wonderful owners, a shot!

Ambiance and service that made you feel right at home. The owner was a lovely old lady that would come and check everything was alright and chat to you. The pasta dishes ranged from more traditional to the quirky flavours you'd expect from Japanese/Italian fusion yet all were delicious.
Strong recommend for a heartwarming meal on a cold winter night. My family and I returned for dinner the day after we first went because it was such a heartwarming experience.

My girlfriend and I were looking for something off the “beaten path” the night before we climbed Fujiyama. She happened upon this place, “Verde.” Turns out, it’s been owned and operated by a husband and wife for over 40 years. The wife is the hostess, and the husband is the chef. The food was great - like others have said, it came out quick (10-15 min) and was PERFECTLY cooked. She got a spicy bolognese and I got a shrimp-scampi. The sauces were well-spiced and not overly salty; the food was actually quite authentic considering [we’re in Kawaguchiko, Japan]. Highly recommend and please… strike-up a convo with the hostess. She speaks great English and loves to chat.
Beautiful find! Absolutely beautiful 40 year old wooden building with a oven/chimney in the middle of the upper room. Food is pretty good and reasonably priced, the atmosphere, service and friendliness outstanding. A must go if you're in the area. Especially on winter evenings it feels like a fairy tale experience.

If somehow you found this place, make sure you’ve got cash. As there is no credit card or any-other cashless payment terminal.
Car access is also tricky one, as the road is narrow. Like really narrow.
However the food is delicious and reach in flavor. Pizza and clam chowder are nearly perfect. Did not try pasta, but believe it also good 😋
This is really a gem, food was made with love and the atmosphere was cozy. Highly recommend.
