Went to this bakery this morning and was honestly the worst experience I’ve had. It had no self service on the windows so I asked one of the ladies if I could get what I wanted and she told me to speak louder and seemed annoyed. Once I got the food the pie was full of just fat and not much meat so I ended up throwing it out, the coffee I got was burned and sweet. Service Take out Meal type Breakfast Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
Came in on 3rd of January on way back down to whangarei and as I had received a voucher for $35 bux for a fishing comp thought better use it, as I was in store a follow lady was short $1 and the lady serving was a bit rude to her and pretty much asked her to leave, her and a fellow colleague proceeded to talk about her calling her a crackhead amongst other stuff, I had allready asked the fellow lady who was mopping floors about my voucher and was advised to talk to server, as it was late not much was on offer, however the lady serving me pointed out my voucher was 3 days out and wouldn't even budge on anything, she got really rude instantly so I just walked out and left the voucher there, not a very good experience. Wouldn't recommend service at all. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
I was told about the doughnuts so thought it rude not to give em a try (even though I'm not typically a doughnut liker). Fricken yummy, bought a heap for famzwe were visiting. Wow they were so fresh and just delicious, everyone commented. Also, best fruit pies I've ever eaten, for real. The pastry is divine, (probably half a pound of butter in each one tho) The rhubarb filling though secondary to the pastry was good also. On the way back from our trip we stopped by again and my husband bought a cream donut sandwich. He insisted I taste it he was so impressed. Not so keen i took a bite, and then another and another. He laughed at my expression, it was soooo good. It's just as well this place is 5hrs drive from our place..
Salted Caramel Donut could use more caramel drizzel, the afghan biscuit was good, the egg lettuse and ham topped with a beet was also good The Paua Pie was delicious one of the best I have tasted. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
I don't like leaving bad reviews but the service here was so bad and the pie (being filled with pie gelatine than anything else) I had to leave a negative review. Kai average, service below average. Won't be coming back here any time soon. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

What a hidden gem. If you are anywhere Kawakawa you must make it a point to stop in here. Fabulous customer service great food and amazing prices. You will not find a bakery as homey and personable as this place. Highly recommend. Back again and still amazing!@

Still a good place to stop for a pie and a cream donut. Can recommend the Steak and Cheese pie, tasty gravy, chunks of beef with lots of cheese in chrispy pastry - just the way I like it. Made in house. Old school bakery food with comfortable seats and big tables. Parking behind the shop with a walkway to the main road (on. commercial Street)

If I could give no star I'd appreciate it, I'm sure this is the bakery that sold me FROZEN SEAFOOD CHOWDER & it had to be reheated twice, 2nd time it was still cold, the staff left me waiting well they served everyone else. I disliked this place a lot. All the way from Auckland & my experience here was HORRIBLE. Pie was ok my partner said.
I had the most AMAZING pie here! A Paua and cream pie! I died and went to heaven. The pastry was golden, light and flaky, and the Paua inside was stunning!! Highly recommend this Kaimoana delight!!
