Delicious food, very authentic atmosphere and attentive staff. The mezze and the fish were very tasty. Watch out because you will probably be overcharged as a tourist (the owner will probably reply here and say that it’s what we ordered, but it’s hard to believe that locals pay 3.500 Turkish lira every night for two beers, 5 mezzes and one large fish). We do not understand the raving reviews. As others mentioned before, ask for the fresh fish prices with your kg before you order. Food was good but not reasonable for price, we are certain being scammed being tourists. Two pieces fish, 2 1/2 Mezze and water for >60€. On top 10% service fee + 4% machine fee charged if you pay by card. It’s hard to believe that locals afford this everyday. Impolite service.High price considering location and value. When we gave them feedback, they pretended to not speak English anymore. Owner might comment we paid what we ate as he did for the other reviewers, don‘t trust it. A hidden gem for new century borns. The Kastamonu-based kitchen knows what to do. Especially pickled mushrooms are great from mezzes. And of course, baked / button-bone Turbot (which you can't find in London or any other western cities) is a real special touch to the fish. The thick sauce of the food is another festive for your tongue. Only a suggestion to chef could be about wines. Hey Chef :) please indulge your visitors with more delicious Anatolian wines. Cheers! This is definitely an enjoyable meyhane experience. I didn't know what to order and the wait staff was very, very helpful. Everything was super "ohh-mmm-yeah" delicious. And I had the Beyerbeyli Raki!!! Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
An authentic restaurant with infamous “mezes” in the historic Balat district. It perfectly serves as a grand prize following a joyful walk across the narrow streets. Although menu consists dominantly of seafood, it has also all typical “meyhane” elements and meat dishes as well. They have some unique side dishes as well. You should definitely try “Topik” and “Soğan Dolması”. A fine selection of local rakis are served. I personally prefer Beylerbeyi Mavi.
