Overall this place was good. It really saved the evening for us. We had the young chicken and the octopus. I wish the young chicken had more interesting accompaniments (simple broccoli, squash and carrots) but the chicken was tender and had a nice flavour. The octopus was really tasty. We had a nice, light coconut dessert to finish. Service was better than most places in Tulum. Overall we had a good experience here. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

I’m so happy I found this quiet and true to jungle spirit restaurant in a busy and very loud aria of night Tulum. Service was very nice and layback. Each dish had unique flavour and were explained very well 👌🏻 I had chocolate clams named by colour and not by flavour. And grilled octopus. It was very tender. I know Tulum has a lot to offer. And I enjoyed this place. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $1,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Grilled Octopus

Wonderful ambiance and service. We ordered the roasted beets and the clams to start, then the young chicken, shrimp and steak for entrees. The clams and young chicken were our favourite - a must try! Food was overall delicious, however the roasted beets salad and shrimp were a total miss. The salad lacked flavour, and I needed extra vinaigrette to add flavour. The beets weren’t roasted either, they were just served cold. The shrimp entree tasted too fishy, and we unfortunately had to send it back. All in all the experience was great nonetheless and our server was phenomenal :) Service Dine in Meal type Dinner

This place deserves more spotlight — ended my night here after having some food earlier that night and even though it was my second dinner as a result I do not regret any kcals I consumed. The service kindly waited for us to finish all the meals without rushing as it was the end of the night for the kitchen and the staff. Wow and wow to the mussels — the presentation and the fantastic combination of flavours. But the octopus left us speechless — perfectly cooked and combines with the sides and sauces. The cherry on the top with the dessert ended our meal with huge smiles on our faces — it was creamy, not too sweet, and juicy. A pure carnival of flavours all around. I guess this is what Mexican modern cuisine should be. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner
Great atmosphere and dishes! We got the octopus, short rib, jungle salad, mussels, chicken and two desserts and split everything between the table. My favorites were our churro desert, short rib and potatoes that came with this octopus but it was all amazing. Everything came out super fast too. Definitely recommend! A thorough thoughtful experience from beginning to end. Very warm and welcoming service from our waitress. She knew the menu and explained each dish as they were presented with Michelin level thoroughness. Food and cocktails prepared with passion and balance. Never was wanting for a thing, and yet was left our own space to enjoy our evening together. Thank you Bal Nak staff for a wonderful evening!!
Relaxed place off the main drag without the crazy pumping music some others have. Incredible cocktails, great service, and excellent food. The grilled octopus dish is maybe the best thing I've had in years. The xibalba cocktail with gin hibuscus and cranberry is one of the best I've ever had as well. Would come again (and might come back on this same trip) , if only to eat 3 orders of octopus. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Grilled Octopus

Such a lovely experience at Bal Nak! A quiet little corner to escape the busy tourist strip with flavors that are uncompromising yet bound to please. The focus is on fresh seafood and I’d suggest sticking to eat - the one all-veg starter was underwhelming, but everything else was stellar. The clams and tiradito were excellent starters, and the prawn and octopus the best mains in my opinion (the huge, juicy prawns were eaten too quickly to be photographed!). Don’t skip the coconut ice cream dessert - highly addictive - or the well-designed cocktail menu. The sweet potato dessert is nice, but not for everyone. I will note that even for Tulum prices this place wasn’t cheap, so save it for a special night! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner

Phenomenal experience, from start to finish! The food, the drinks, the service, and the ambiance were all on point. The duck and the cornbread dessert were some of the best things I’ve eaten in a while. Strongly recommend you check them out. Visited on my birthday and i had to say the food was amazing and desert was exceptional. The food was 5 star for a very reasonable price which is always important when on vacation. The staff was not just welcoming but also enthusiastic about the food. Highly recommend to visit while on tulum beach.
