Great place for lunch. We stopped here to get takeaway food.
This is a popular place and busy. Lovely atmosphere, cosy decor, and friendly staff.
Lots of pastry options to choose from. We had the cheese stick, ham and cheese croissant, ham and cheese toasted sandwich, vegetarian sandwich, and custard donut.
The food was fantastic, not one disappointing thing. I loved my ham and cheese toasted sandwich. It was really filling and full of flavour. The BBQ/chilli sauce was a nice touch (albeit odd to have sauce with a toasted sandwich), it really enhanced the flavours of the sandwich.
The custard donut was divine!
I highly recommend this place whether you are dining in or taking away. It is definitely worth stopping here.
My only fault on this place is the time it takes to get your toasted sandwich. If you are in a hurry and they are busy, perhaps don't get this.
Yum! Great service, staff look happy to be there and know there products are great. Love the vibes of the place open and not shoulder to shoulder with a stranger. Line literally out the door for people waiting to get in that’s how good it is. Coffee nice as well. I got a ham and cheese scroll heated and a mocha $13. Now I can watch the washing wash next door and drink my coffee. Only thing that could be a little better would be if they had two tils and two coffee machines because of how many people coming and going, waiting outside in the rain isn’t much fun.
Delicious food, very comfortable place, the workers are splendid, I loved it. It is a bit expensive but so worth ut. It reminded me of home, the flaky buttery pastry and the amazing lattes. The fragrances the vibes of the place. I will definitely go there more often.
AMAZING TOASTIE - My lovely wife and son just bought me lunch at BABCO. It was the most delicious toastie I have ever had. What amazing food. Thank you!!!

Lovely bakery and cafe. Everything is presented beautifully and the staff are kind. The only thing holding us back from 5 stars are that it’s takeaway containers only (no mugs or plates and also no compost options for the takeaway plates/ napkins and cups). So low points on the enviro front. Bring your own coffee cup for a discount and they’ll load up a container with your goodies if you bring your own.
Some vegan items! But their most sensational offerings are their artisan sourdough loaves. The ‘Everyday Sourdough’ is gorgeous.
I also enjoyed their Almond Pain au Chocolat and their Vegan Cookies & Cream Fudge Slice. I honestly wanted to silently eat the Almond Pain and cry from the joy. So good.
Not the worst place in NZ but, unfortunately, could do better. I've moved from Christchurch which has some amazing German-like bakeries. Unfortunately, this bakery is not (yet??) up to this level. Neither the bretzels nor the sourdough bread is crispy enough which means I have to toast them to get them some kind of crispiness. The bretzels also taste only sightly of real bretzels. Additionally, I also miss a bread with walnuts in it. I haven't tried the Danish pastries as they are too expensive for the size. Will come back but not too often.
