Had the fish and chips, the cotoletta and the fish of the day (sea bream). We enjoyed all the dishes. Saw a comment about soggy fish. The recipe they use here is tempura and the fish was cooked as it should be cooked (not overcooked but just right). I find this restaurant to be good value for money with good service and a very nice ambience.

I visited ambra for their fish and chips, choosing the sea bream. Unfortunately, the fish was underwhelming, appearing undercooked and tasting soggy. After expressing my concerns, the staff assured me it was cooked as intended. To add to my disappointment, I was still charged for the meal despite not being able to eat it. Prompt service aside, being billed for an unsatisfactory dish was a letdown.
We had been wanting to visit Ambra for quite a while and an opportunity to visit arose during the Christmas holidays. The restaurant invites you into warm calm colours and attentive details that underline subtle elegance. Ambra brings in the familiar with the experimental, so every food serving is a surprise that heightens the visual and the taste buds. We had the tasting menu and so had the palatable opportunity of trying a variety of dishes, from ravioli, seafood pasta with chickpea sauce, rabbit meatloaf complemented by delicious sides and sauce, and so much more. I certainly am unable to accurately elaborate on the distinct textures and flavours prepared. Everything is made with such attentiveness combining the finesse of food textures, fresh flavours and creative presentation.
If you are all for stepping in an alternative ambience which is rarely found elsewhere, into a restaurant of excellent character, right into a passionate culinary experience, I would beyond question visit Ambra and allow Chef Davide Ospite's techniques and personality to take you on a relishing trip with his food and mastery.

We visited Ambra restaurant on one of those bridge days between Christmas and New Year's day. Chef Davide Ospite greeted us with his beaming, enthusiastic smile - visibly eager to make us taste his new culinary creations. The place itself is majestic, adorned with high ceilings and grandiose rooms yet unassuming, especially thanks to the unobtrusive table lights, specifically chosen by Davide to complement your experience rather than conflict with the latter. I'll refrain from going into the details of what we consumed since I'm sure I won't do justice neither to the laboriously decorated dishes, almost to millimetric precision, nor to their respective burst of flavours. More so since at Ambra the menu changes constantly, which is very refreshing considering the serious lack of novelty in local restaurants. Instead I'll simply post two photos of the dishes which I liked the most, both based on fish. Davide offered us various tastings, which came in either 3, 5 or 7 samples. This might sound as meagre, but stuffing yourself is not the point here, the focus is (and should be) on pushing (and developing) your taste buds to other limits. Without any excessive pompousness, Davide went on explaining the dishes we’ll be tasting, peppering his explanations with small anecdotes related to the ingredients used. As the evening progressed, it was evidently clear; Davide managed to effortlessly mix the modest with the complex, the conventional with the uncommon in a seemingly perfect balance without anything overstepping the other.

I have recently dined at Ambra restaurant, and I must say that this restaurant has left the best impressions on me. Ambra restaurant offers a cosy ambiance where delicious dishes are prepared with passion, by the amazing chef Davide. The dishes that my friends and I chose, were creative, demonstrating that Davide clearly understands the flavours, textures and technique to create delicious and visually appealing dishes.
I suggest opting for the tasting menu for an enhanced experience in this beautiful restaurant. Dishes are reasonably priced. I will definitely visit again.

What an amazing evening... My parents came to Malta to visit us, and we took the opportunity to try Ambra with them. Cocktails, food menu, service, atmosphere, it ticks all the boxes!! We had a wonderful time, and the food was succulent. Definitely a place to recommend!
