After a long walk around San Mateo County History Museum, come to this restaurant and have a rest here. Ignore other places, discover the Indian and Pakistani menu at Zareen's. Anna Rita was a great help in my selection of a meal. I ordered the Palak Aloo and garlic naan. The flavor and spices of the palak aloo were well-balanced and tasty; it was a hearty meal. We went for a Saturday brunch to this place. We ordered a special puri chana combo, which is only available on weekends, which was good. Overall, it's good, light in spice if you prefer that. Enjoyed the food at zareen's with my friend. I had chai which was okay I would have preferred a little bit more ginger and cardamom. Also got the shortbread nankhatai .. which was wonderful. Chai was complimentary for the first time customer. I had the silver spoon chicken paratha roll.. that was okay I enjoyed the chicken samosa.. it took me back to my childhood when I had similar Pakistani/North Indian samosa in Saudi. My friend had the chicken biryani which was the special for today and I tasted some and it was delicious. I do want to come back on a weekend and try the nihari. I also liked the firni dessert.. rice pudding with cardamom.. delicious 😋 Thanks 🙏 it's wonderful to have such great restaurants right in the heart of Redwood City. Casual giving an open feeling type Pakistani food restaurant. You place your order at the counter, pay and collect your table # and find a table. Seemed kind of chaotic with staff running around. After about 15 min our food arrived. How impressed can you get if you get diced paneer pieces plonked in a gravy? Yup plain raw paneer in sauces called “Madras” etc. Nope it was the shortest shortcut to cooking in a restaurant. The naan was large and well baked but as it got cold it became difficult to tear apart. I will give this restaurant another try at some point and see if any other dishes prove to be better.
