I was looking for a good Asian Ramen or Pho in the Uber Eats app, only to find nothing within 5 miles of my Eastside-Suburban neighborhood. Boo! I kept scrolling until I happened upon a fusion option and enthusiastically placed an order for a Birria Ramen Soup and Cheese Quesadilla. It was an interesting dish, like I think I liked it but felt like this probably wasn’t something that should be consumed in volume. At one point, I wondered if “soup” was code for oil. I understand the concept of Consomé but it was super oily, I had anticipated more beef broth, if that makes sense. I ended up preparing some thin pasta to help stretch out the oily mouth-feel. And added a beef bouillon to it to pull out the flavor. The spice in the soup was well balanced. Great idea… execution just wasn’t entirely there for me.
