In Zab Thung we found so many accidentally vegan and very tasty local food! It was a true treasure finding for us and we went there several times until we tried all the dishes on the menu! Our all-time favourite was Drung Balay (soup) and Prapu (dough with walnut sauce). Highly recommend this place for traditional food of Skardu, which is very unique compared to the Pakistani traditional food. Would definitely go again once we visit Skardu!

One of the only, if not THE only restaurant in Skardu that caters to those who want a taste of local cusine. The owner was a very friendly person who explained everything on the menu to me in detail. I particularly enjoyed the 'Mamtu', which thankfully wasn't spicy like some of the other places I tried. The 'Sattu' drink was very refreshing and 'cold' - which was just what I needed as my lips were peeling. I was so impressed by its immediate effect that I ordered another glass of it. The dessert (I think it was called 'Chaphay Chu') was another highlight. It tasted almost like peanut butter, albeit a much healthier and wholesome version! Definitely a place to visit if you want to try local food.

Zap Thung is one of the most pioneer traditional restaurant in skardu. It is beautifully design with cultural background as well as eco friendly materials, which gives a unique look.
