Went here for lunch and later in the week for dinner. The culture show was apparently only available in the evenings. My local colleagues brought me to this restaurant so I could experience delicious local cuisine and watch/participate in cultural dances. The restaurant is very large and has nice decor. You can order from the menu or eat from the buffet. It was my first time in Addis and I would definitely return.
The food was fantastic comparing it to 2000 habesha, it was warm and fresh the service was a bit annoying since they told us we could pay with our card at first then said the POS machine wasn't working. The atmosphere was nice but there wasn't enough diversity on the cultural entertainment dance part.

I have never been exposed to such a cultural explosion as at the Yod. The food is out of this world. There is a buffet for groups.I ate Injera and cooked beef and Doro Wat. It was a good experience using fingers instead of fork and knife and also eating from the same plate with my husband! The fermented honey drink and St George's Amber beer was the proper wash down. The dance performances were mind blowing. I have listened and enjoyed Ethiopian music before but listening to the music and seeing the dances too made such a big difference. The neck dance from one of the peformances was mind blasting. The one musical drama between 2 lovers was especially hilarious. I also had an opportunity to take a few pictures with two singers .Service was excellent. However, booking in advance is advised as the place gets full. Entrance is free.
Yod Abyssinia is an amazing traditional restaurant located in Addis Ababa,Ethiopia.I have recently dined there as a friend of mine advised visiting the place not only due to reasonably priced food but also the magnificent décor which makes you feel as if you were in one of those cozy Ethiopian traditional restaurants.
The wider variety of dishes on the menu was a huge relief for me.My two-course meal consisted of Kitfo and Gomen besega, and I was just say 'Yummy'!
I was also enjoying an Ethiopian traditional beverage called ''Tej'',that is produced by using local honey, and I loved it.Besides this there was also a coffee ceremony, one of the most recognizable elements of Ethiopian culture. There were also a traditional band and dancers on stage.
Wow Yod Abyssinia have done a great job for introducing Ethiopian culture and identity to the rest of the world.
Overall,I would really recommend Yod Abyssinia Traditional Restaurant to anyone who revels in delicious and affordable Ethiopian food.
The food is nice and the service is friendly. The place is a bit small. The only bad thing was that when I was the the toilets were disgusting. They said it's because there's no water. The rest is good.
