I recently had the pleasure of dining at 伊江滇缅料理 in Hualien City, Taiwan, and I must say it was an extraordinary experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere that immediately made me feel at home. The owner of the restaurant, whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, was an absolute gem. Not only did they go out of their way to make us feel welcome, but they also showed incredible generosity by offering us a discount on our meal. It was a kind gesture that truly added to the overall positive dining experience. What impressed me the most was the owner's genuine concern for our dining experience. They took the time to personally recommend specific dishes and even advised us against ordering too much food, as they wanted to ensure that we enjoyed our meal without feeling overwhelmed. This level of attentiveness is rare to find, and it genuinely made a difference in our dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, my taste buds were in absolute heaven! The beef with butter gourd stir fry was a revelation. The tender beef paired with the delicate flavors of bitter gourd created a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. It was a dish that delighted both the palate and the senses. The sweet and sour fish was another standout. The fish was perfectly cooked, tender and flaky, and the sweet and sour sauce had just the right balance of tanginess and sweetness. It was a burst of flavors that left a lasting impression. The chicken curry with potato was a comforting and aromatic dish. The tender chicken combined with the creamy curry sauce and the soft potatoes created a delightful medley of flavors that had us reaching for seconds. To top it all off, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary dessert. The fact that they offered it for free speaks volumes about the owner's generosity and commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience. Located in Hualien City, 伊江滇缅料理 is a hidden gem that shouldn't be missed. The owner's warm hospitality, genuine care, and generous discounts added an extra layer of delight to our visit. The amazing food, including the beef with butter gourd stir fry, sweet and sour fish, and chicken curry with potato, showcased the chef's expertise and made our day truly memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Hualien City and craving an authentic and unforgettable dining experience. The service was good; the owners were nice and friendly. The food was hit or miss. The Tom yam soup with prawns was very delicious. The broth was really good and the prawns were larger than most you get in Taiwan. It is some of the best Tom yam soup I’ve had in Taiwan. We also had minced pork with chili and basil. I was going in with high expectations (it’s one of my favorite Thai dishes) so I was definitely let down. I’ve had the same dish much better at other places. However, this isn’t a Thai restaurant. It’s a Myanmar/Burmese restaurant that has similar foods to Thai, but not the same. To end dinner, they brought us each out a small coconut dessert which was good. I like the place, but I also feel that it’s a bit expensive for the dish sizes.

This is a MUST - VISIT place ! Love the good taste ,as always !
Recommended!! 10 people of us came here, and we only spent 3000 TWD to have everyone satisfied! All the dishes are good. However, just a reminder for those who do not eat spicy foods: most of the dishes here are at least a bit spicy.

The food is pretty solid. Do note that if you walk in minutes before 8pm, they will steer you towards fast cooked items for take out only. Dine-in closes at 8pm while take out closes at 9pm. The fish would take 30 minutes so we couldn’t order it. Anyway the food is good. Eggs with bambo is good. Green beans and ground meat is solid. The house sauce (vinegar base) is pretty fantastic. Our average plate cost 300 Taiwan dollars so it is pretty pricey for Asia but the serving size is reasonable. Overall, nice people. Good food. Kind of pricey. Would recommend.

In seven days in Taiwan this was the most delicious food we have had! We ordered chilly beef, chicken in coconut sauce, water spinach and mixed vegetable salad. Each plate was just perfect! We felt taken care of and also the atmosphere was nice.

Super friendly owners and staff made our visit a time to remember. Once we dispensed with the initial explanation of our ethical vegan choices, the head waitress recommended a spicy salad (without fish sauce or seafood), a sizzling bowl of mushroom and cabbage, an aubergine (read eggplant) sauteê and the complimentary big dish of rice. The flavours were well pronounced in the spicy dishes and well balanced in the sizzling dishes. Being vegan we were unable to avail of the specialty flavour of fish sauce, customary to Myanmar cuisine, similar to Thai food, yet the kitchen still managed to pull out all the stops, well done!
The best Myanmar-Thai cuisine in Taiwan. This is another place you should never miss while visiting Hualien. The taste is superb authentic that you will find yourself in Northern Thailand or Myanmar which in fact you are in Hualien, the most beautiful remote area of Eastern Taiwan. Do not forget to make reservation before going there! It is not common for very popular restaurants to take reservation, they do!
