Fantastic little "speakeasy" nicely hidden in downtown Flint. I absolutely LOVE the entry method. its definitely one of a kind. I wont spoil it by giving the details, but I can definitely say its worth checking out. Curiosity made my wife and I stop by to check out the "Xperience" and wow! all I can say is you definitely need to check this place out.

Awesome little Speakeasy. First off, for first timers like we were, it is a little hard to find. When you are looking at Xolo straight on, you should see an "X" with an arrow pointing to the right. Follow that around the outside of the building and you should see another X over a non-descriptive entrance. Ring the doorbell, there is no password to worry about. You'll hear a click when the door unlocks for you. Look for another X with an arrow, it basically takes you through the back hallways, and you'll go a little further than you think you should. It basically spits you out at the backside of Xolo (could you just walk in through Xolo? Probably. But it's more fun to go the back route). There's a bookshelf tucked into the side, you'll push on that and be in (the Xolo staff is friendly and helpful and will direct you in if you have any problems finding it). Ok, review portion. There's maybe 4 places in downtown Flint that I know of and have tried that are serving cocktails in the $12-14 range: Simmer, Sauce, Cork on Saginaw, and here (although ours here were really $11 and $12). Out of all of those, these cocktails were the best. My date and I each had 2 cocktails and they were all superlative. The one that stuck out for me was La Pistola, a mezcal drink with green chartreuse, lime and muddled jalapeno. It was balanced, wasn't spicy like some drinks I've had that were similar conceptually, just a nice smokiness from the mezcal and a crisp peppery finish. I've seen other reviews mention food, it seems like it's cocktails only right now which is totally fine by me and more my expectation of a speakeasy.
Drinks were okay, it's more presentation than anything but the food was amazing. It was pretty quiet and the way they have the secret entrance doesnt quite make sense so people get confused and pull rather than push.
Appreciate them being in Flint, but they need reliable hours. Walked in at 11:45 on a Saturday with some folks from out of town and hours said they were open until 1. They said then they were just closing then so had to go somewhere else. Very frustrating, especially when bringing folks who are new to Flint out. I’d love to come back if I knew when they’d be open, but right now it seems pretty unreliable.

Second visit after a less than stellar first visit. Second visit the bar was less than a quarter full. Disappointing Expectations are high as I personally want it to be successful. My choice cocktail presentation and taste was good. Beer selection is limited along with limited knowledge of the breweries. Ordering a specialized cocktail that is not on the menu can be a challenge.
