Fantastic bakery in Lexington center featuring artisan style loaves of freshly baked bread in a wide range of both traditional and unusual flavors. Cookies and muffins if you get there early enough. This is just a counter service bakery, there is no place to sit and eat. Food: 5
Large selection of 'house made' breads. I chose two loaves and had them sliced. Staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the breads were on the heavy side, leading me to wonder where the breads are actually proofed and baked. My guess would be they're either baked in Maine and shipped to each store, or baked in each store from frozen. Edit: response to this review has confirmed they're baked in Maine and shipped to store.

When Pigs Fly has a fun and unique name. The breads inside were unique too. They offered a big variety of flavors. They had Easter special bread and cupcakes, which were reasonably priced. I love the display inside the store. One bread I tried, maybe garlic and herbs, was delicious.
28 different breads. Everyone I tried has been excellent. Totally worth a visit if you’re in the area. Cookies, Muffins, Doughnuts (only on Saturday), Olive Oils, Balsamic Vinegars, Jams, and other specials are also sold.

Amazing breads! I haven’t been back here in so long and I was reminded I need to go there more. The blueberry granola bread was so amazing on its own or as toast. I’m sure I would love just about every bread in the store. Definitely worth a visit regardless of if you’re near or far.

Update May 2023: If you frequent WPF, it's worth to purchase a $25 gift card during specific promotion periods (May-June and holiday season) because they give you a free loaf of bread with it. I also appreciate how they have Union Sq Donuts on Saturdays & Sundays, as now I do not have to drive to Somerville for them :) The donuts sell out quickly, though. Also, $3 sourdough Wednesdays are great! The staff are very kind. The bread is kind of pricey, but I think it is worth it. Especially the chocolate bread! Other good breads: Peach Cobbler (May 2023 special bread). The orange cranberry bread is very very sweet, almost like a dessert. Donut flavors that I would recommend: Vietnamese coffee, Brown butter hazelnut, Brown butter whiskey (all brioche donuts). I tried the lemon poppyseed cake donut and it was alright. I would not recommend getting the muffins or cookies that they make (did not try scones) b/c they were stale. Despite this, I still think WPF is a great addition to Lexington.

Monday May 29, 2023@ 3pm. I, African American female walked in and I was not acknowledged like the non African American customer who walked in while I was making my purchase. I should not have made any purchase but I had already rang up my order. I will not return because the cashier ( young white female) ignored me an African American customer but treated someone else who was not African American with such enthusiasm and welcome. My ability to pay is just like anyone else's. Though there was a selection of bread, I will find another bakery who will treat me w respect and as an equal as other customers who walk in, regardless of the race or color of their skin!! My receipt says Cashier : "Manager"; if she is the manager, I do not expect this review to go anywhere. SMH.

bread was fairly priced for what it is. The muffins, however, were very dry and a bit stale. They were $1.50 each which is okay for the size, but I was a bit disappointed nonetheless.
