I am a vegetarian [I eat eggs just not meat] and simply want to know when I go into a restaurant what are the vegetarian choices. The response of this waitress was entirely substandard. She made both mistakes made by waitresses when asked this simple question. 1. Not Knowing the Menu. Most restaurants today have vegetarian choices. That's because there are millions of vegetarians in the country as well as other people who are not vegetarians but simply may not want to eat meat on that particular day when they order the meal. [Maybe their doctor told them to stay away from sausage and bacon because they don't want to die prematurely of a heart attack 🤣]. This waitress did not adequately know the menu. So I had to scour the menu which took me quite a long time to read all of the descriptions of the food to determine which ones did not have meat. I chose a vegetarian omelet. How hard is it for a waitress to know the menu? This is not rocket science. That is her job. Moreover, there are so many vegetarians today, and others who do not want to eat meat that she must certainly be asked this question regularly. It should not be a rare or unusual request. 2. The Ridiculous Answer. The next mistake that this waitress made as many other waitresses make because they seem to be lazy and ignorant of the menu is simply to say you can choose anything but take the meat out. This answer is infuriating to vegetarians, and it's extremely offensive. Why? That is because in many dishes meat is the central part of the meal and to take the meat out means that all the vegetarian gets to eat are potatoes and bread, yet pay the same price as the full meal. I can assure you I am not going to go to a restaurant and pay $20 for breakfast, including a tip to eat home fries and bread. Many restaurants have substitutes for meat and would say we can take the meat out, and in its place, we can add tofu or some of the meat substitutes. But to tell you to choose anything and take the meat out is like saying we're going to sell you a car and you'll pay the same price but we'll take the engine out. To be honest, I don't need to spend $20 for breakfast and be aggravated by a clueless waitress who doesn't want to be bothered with helping a customer. I'd rather go to a fast food restaurant, pay $7, and not be bothered with a tip. Thanks, but no thanks. To the owner: Just think for a minute how stupid it is to tell a vegetarian to "just take the meat out." It's like a slap in the face. I interpret it as a "screw you" answer whether intended to be one by the clueless waitress or not. It's like saying: "So you're a vegetarian, screw you, just take the meat out of any of our choices and stop bothering us." I'm am sure the waitress did not intend to imply that, but that's how it comes across to me. This was an answer more prevalent in the 1970s, 1980s when meat eating was more central in society and vegetarians were regarded as kooks. Yeah, I'm old so I've seen the evolution of how vegetarians are responded to. "Just take the meat out" is about the worst answer you can give. We vegetarians tegard this answer as crude and ridiculous. Just think how much better it would have been for the waitress to say: "Yes. Walter's has vegetarian choices, perhaps you'd be interested in the vegetarian omelet." Very simple.

Food was amazing! Very delicious. However half of the dining room is closed off, so seating is limited. Also we could hear the staff yelling and arguing with each other in the kitchen when they opened the door. People were looking to see what was going on. Lots of attitude from the employees today. Kinda ruined the whole experience when the staff are fighting in such a way that customers can hear you. Got out of there as quick as we could. Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
Been coming here for over 15 years. We usually enjoy breakfast and have a great time. Our last visit we waited for 45 minutes to only be told the kitchen has stopped accepting orders. We left and went to ihop. Decided to give it one more try this weekend. Patiently waited for 25 minutes only to experience the worst service and food. My pork chop was burnt all around the edges. Our server never bothered to check up on us to ask how the food was. I had to get up and ask for more napkins. I had to ask another employee passing by for waters. My husband asked another staff member for a drink refill. Just beyond disappointed and will be taking a break from visiting. Eating out in today's economy is a luxury. There are way too many options for this kind of failure in service and customer experience. Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4

Absolutely the worst service I have ever had. Nobody was friendly. All running around like a chicken without a head. Complaining that they are understaffed. Forget about the food. The grits were not cooked properly and thrown on the plate like slop. The eggs tasted like they were from a carton. And they threw a handful of cheddar cheese on top of it. I waited 25 minutes// not worth the wait… Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

This place used to have fantastic food but after my last experience I may never eat there again. Waited 45 minutes for a takeout order and it still wasn't ready when I got back. Ordered eggs Benedict and eggs came back hard asked for the potatoes to be extra cooked and they were barely cooked. Had to wait another half an hour for my order. The sausage gravy was still good. I am in the area every few months and even when I was living in the area, Walters has always been my favorite place for breakfast on Sunday morning. That is until this past Sunday. How disappointing 😔. We got there and as usual put out name on the list. Several people were waiting as several more came up, most of which turned right around and left. After about 20 minutes, the hostess came out to say that they were not seating anyone else, as they were backed up in the kitchen. Shortly thereafter, a server came out to serve the outdoor tables and let us know that they still were not seating people and that had been seated and had been waiting over 45 minutes and still had not received food. Several of the people began to leave. We waited. Over the next 10-12 minutes people had begun to leave and there were many more tables available, yet we still were not seated. Finally after another 10 minutes we were seated, but some others that were arriving were being told that they were not seating anyone. At the end of the day, we got our food which was awesome as always, but clearly something is changing in Walters. From the staff, to even the music being played( not bad in any way, just different) it does not feel the same. The reason we waited was because of the reputation and past experiences at Walters. Not sure if we will be visiting them again on my next trip. So sad
