Followed recommendations from friends. They are very popular and reservation will be necessary, even on weekdays evening.
Their menu is very wide and comprehensive. See for yourself when you're there. The food is good. Service is patient and friendly despite their full house demands.
Pretty much the best Sashimi in the region I’ve tasted. Pretty crowded even for weekday dinner. Could be due to school holiday season though.
Very accommodating to customizing options in the menu.
Remember to make reservations to avoid disappointment. Walk in is possible for solo pax. But still requires waiting time.
Enjoyment.

Had a delicious dinner with wa zen. We walked in on a weekend night and was very lucky they had just 1 spot left for walk-ins.
Atmosphere was hectic with the amount of customers to seat, felt like we have to make snappy decisions because we weren't able to find out how to reserve a seat.
Recommend to call them in advance and reserve a table as it is a highly popular restaurant.
The dishes we enjoyed best were the grilled scallops and oyster, pork wrapped asparagus, beef yakiniku and salmon sashimi. Price point is a tad pricey but you get quality.
Suggest to provide pickled ginger with assortment sashimi platter; it was difficult to enjoy the flavors of each type of fish.
Overall, yummy will return again

It was a spontaneous decision to come here for dinner and we were extremely fortunate we didn't have to wait too long for a table.
After about 15 minutes of waiting, we were ushered to our table at the extreme back corner of the restaurant. We were told they originally only had one unit, but have since expanded to take over the adjacent unit. Business and hence their food must be good.
We ordered a whole bunch of stuff with lots of variety.
I recommend the sashimi set. Not only is the presentation excellent, the freshness and the thickness of the cut of all 3 kinds of fish were fantastic.
The deep fried soft shell crab was also fresh and fried to perfect crispness.
The chawanmushi was smooth and tasty, and even had slices of mushroom and crabsticks in it.
The pork katsu was one of my favourites. Normally I find pork katsu to be quite oily, but this one didn't feel greasy at all. It was also pretty lean.
The garlic fried rice was just so so. It wasn't very fragrant but portion was considered generous.
I would definitely return when I'm back in MLK.

Saw good reviews and had high expectations but was disappointed by the food. Best I had was the salmon belly, but the Japanese curry was mediocre. Sushi was decent.
Didn’t make any reservations and walked in on a Monday evening and was given counter seats (facing cabinets). Quality of service is good despite peak hour.

Price is reasonable with good quality of food. Wa Zen is the favorite Japanese restaurant of our family. We like to have our family meals for celebration at this restaurant. We need to always reserve in advance as it's alway full house specially during dinner time. Our reservation yesterday was as late as 9:15pm, almost supper time. If you are Japanese food lovers, this is the must try Japanese Restaurant at Melaka.

Been a while since I last came back to Wa Zen. Always delighted to return to have a great meal. Reserved a month back to make sure I get a table, and definitely will recommend having a meal here when you are in Melaka.

Have a sashimi set and beer. Beer has no gas and no foam. The white colour fish has fishy smell. The tuna is not fresh. The best part is the orange slices. Worst Japanese restaurant ever visited in Malaysia.

Best Japanese Restaurant in Melaka. So far every dish I have ordered hasn't failed me. Superb environment and helpful staff, might need to make an appointment in advance because you hardly get a seat without any reservations.
