Strongly recommend! This was my first time trying southern cuisine. And I can say - that was very delicious! Had Gumbo and Andouille sausage. Was definitely a lot for me, need to admit that 😂 But now I know. Thanks Chef Aaron! Much appreciate your hospitality! You can taste the love in the food here 🥰 Be patient while you wait for your order - it is completely worth the wait! Have some gumbo - it'll change your life! The fried catfish - best fried catfish I've ever had. And their cornbread is so good, I don't even like my own cornbread recipe anymore after tasting this one. While you're here, don't miss out on the juice - these aren't your ordinary flavors and aren't syrupy-sweet. I dined here yesterday and I'm STILL thinking about this experience today! You need to try it - thank me later 😁👍 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Chicken and Waffles
Food is as good as advertised. Lots of flavor, tons of spice. Temperature and freshness all there. Have enjoyed: gumbo, pork rinds, fried shrimp, sticky chicken, sweet potatoes, red beans n rice, fried plantains. The collards were fine, not spectacular. The red velvet cake was so so. Would love to see some fresh made desserts that matched the cuisine. Service was good, but expect to wait on food as they make to order and perfection takes time. We were celebrating a birthday last night! We had loads of appetizers, huge entrees and left at the end of the meal full, happy and with TONS of leftovers for another meal! The atmosphere was fun and up beat, the food was hot, fresh and yummy! Really great experience, we will be back Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Chicken and Waffles
This is definitely a hidden gem here in lake. First, the restaurant is super cute and gives all the Nola vibes you could want. PEEP the flamingo pink chandelier bathroom when you go..... it's byob wine and beer. They have a small menu, but the chef makes specials every day that they write on the chalkboard wall. We had the Cajun pountine to start. It was amazing. I could have ordered 2 more plates of just that. There was gravy and cheese curds and the most flavorful fried pork belly pieces on top. Just heaven! I tried their chicken and waffles with the pecan praline waffle.... the brine on rhw chicken was so juicy and fried to a perfect crisp. And the waffle was delicious. I could have licked the whole plate clean. We also tried the special, which was a brown sugar bourbon pork chop over rice with cornbread. And let me just tell you the porkchop was twice as big as the plate! Everything had so much flavor and spoke to my foodie soul. I can't wait to go back and try more! The chef makes everything from scratch when you order, and you can really taste the love he puts into his cooking. First thing i noticed was the note on the door that indicates the meals are made to order so not the place to visit if you are in a hurry especially since there is also limited staff. But the food was DEFINATELY worth the wait. My first time visiting was on a Sunday for Brunch with a group of about 15. It did take a while for everyone to receive food but all food was hot, accurate and in large portions good for sharing. Can't wait to visit again when I am close to the area. For me the food wasn't as good as the reviews posted. The food looked good but that was it. A bit overpriced ( but what isn't nowadays) I got the fried fish, collard greens and red beans (don't like rice). The fish was good and hot but needed a little more seasoning, the greens & beans was right at the door of being cold. My daughter got the gumbo and she had to dig under all the rice to find the blue crab which was really small and she said she has had better gumbo. My boyfriend got the vegetable plate he had the black eyed peas which he said had something in it that didn't taste right. So probably won't go back... OMG!!! A friend on Facebook told me this place, Viola & Agnes' New Soul Cafe has the best gumbo he ever had at a restaurant... and I have to totally agree!!! The rhou, the chicken, Andouille sausage, crab and more was very delicious, esquisite taste, and well seasoned. I also had the Crawfish and Shrimp Etoufee very delicious as well. My son had the Honey-Butter Bacon Chicken Sandwich. Our sides was collards greens, red beans and rice. There was a nice crowd on a late Saturday afternoon and we had to wait awhile for our food, but I guarantee you it was worth the time. The staff was very courteous and nice with a atmosphere that was very authentic, pleasant and cozy cafe. Definitely going back again soon! 😁 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Gumbo
