It was a pleasant surprise visiting this place because I definitely did not know about it at all prior to trying the food, but it was a wonderful balance of price, quantity, and flavor, to the point that it made my dining experience worth it! Kataki is nowhere close to an upscale or fine dining place but I felt like I paid for what the food was worth, and possibly even more! The highlights are definitely the sushi! My partner and I only got the yellowtail and the salmon roe sushi but they both tasted very flavorful, and the koshihikari rice was tasty as well. I could tell that the sushi was a specialty in this establishment. The price was very reasonable as well, with $7 for the yellowtail sushi and $11.5 for the salmon roe sushi. The Kataki rolls were great as well, even if I knew that the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and spicy yellowtail combination wasn't uncommon. Someone it tasted fuller and more flavorful than similar items I have had elsewhere. The tonkotsu ramen was solid as well, and I was given a good amount of pork with good texture that tasted slightly different from what I was used to. The broth was only okay, but I know it's hard to achieve perfection for such in a restaurant so I was okay with it. For $14.50, it was worth it! The appetizers such as shumai, softshell crab tempura, age tofu, and takoyaki were also solid, and once again, for $7.5 each ($8.95 for the softshell crab) it was worth it, but they were not as good as the sushi in terms of economical value. The octopus meat in the takoyaki was hard. The age tofu relied on the sauce for flavor completely. And the shumai was a bit soggy. Regardless, they were all solid enough! Once again, I did not expect myself to give a 5 rating to a Japanese food place that wasn't the most well-known for its authenticity or fanciness, but the food was tasty and it made me "feel good" here! There are many establishments like this one, but somehow the food here has had more flavor in comparison. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

Great sushi at an affordable price. We got the sushi/ sashimi platter for 2 and left full and very happy. The fish is high quality and the price is very fair. Our rolls were full of fish and not filler and the sashimi was nice chunks of meat. The service was great and we went on a very busy Friday night. It was amazing! Everything from start to finish was excellent. My wife and three boys are regular sushi goers but have never tried authentic ramen. Needless to say, Kataki has ruined us for the "homemade" variety! My wife personally commented to me halfway through our meal that the chefs special rolls sushi was the best she had ever had, and I agreed! Thanks again for such an amazing meal and the service was equally awesome! Kataki all the way!
Nice small place, sushi ordered was made fresh and still warm. Some of the rolls tasted the same and was so so. The vegetable fried rice was good, ordered 1 to try, and it was good just like Kyoto Sushi (because it was good, I ordered another to go). Ordered 6 different rolls to try so I can compare the taste with other sushi places I've been to. Some of them were okay. Came during lunch- Happy Hour, so I got a good deal and decided to order more rolls. Also ordered miso soup, which was good but kind of salty. Will come back again to try other rolls and food. The 🚻 bathrooms were clean, so that's a plus! 3rd time eating there already. Review is Updated with new pictures. The miso soup is good. Pepper Tuna Tataki would have been good if it was spicier with fresh Thai Chilli 🌶 peppers. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
we dined February 14, 2024 and had a terrible experience. We waited 45 mins for a table, my husband waited 40 minutes for his food and I was not served until we asked for the bill to leave 40 minutes after my husband was finished eating. We asked for the check to pay for what actually arrived to our table, and then we're ignored for another 15 minutes. Then MAGIC my sushi appeared at 8:15pm without the check we requested. We walked in the doors at 6:15pm. You should not have to threaten to walk out to get the food you ordered. We will not be returning. Also the miso soup is disgusting.
